90s ki diwali!!

Since the show is celebrating 90s ki diwali, lets share our memories from 90s ki diwali..

here are my memories...

I spent early 90s in a joint family. Diwali preparation would start from diwali ki safai... Each and every corner of the house would be cleaned.. There was schedule fixed from dusherra onwards as to which day which room would be cleaned... My mom and chachis use to clean each and every wall of each room.. Biggest task was kitchen and store room. Since it was a joint family, store room was big and used for storing grocery supplies for the year. It had big steel boxes. Each year all boxes would be washed and labeled with the contains to make it easier to find what is where. But by next year the label and containt of the boxes wouldnt match.

once the cleaning is done.. There will be 2 days of cooking.. Shakar para, mathari, gulab Jamun, gujiya, chakali, laddo and what not..

90 s life was simple and sweet...so yes, it was pretty much what you mentioned...

Middle class family would spend on Diwali but after thinking twice...the bargaining by mundit in yesterday's episode was so relatable

Buying new clothes wasn't compulsory and u could wear anything infact( not necessarily ethnic)

Crackers, rangoli, posting greeting cards beforehand and then calculating if it would have reached...hayee woh din

I think these were the little things which made diwali so special. But now a days we buy clothes every other day.. So no excitement for buying clothes for diwali..

The day after diwali is Gujarati New Year for us. My memories are just like yours. We clean entire house, make lots of sweet and savory snacks, buy new clothes, make rangoli. I used to love getting a month long vacation from school but hated diwali homework..haha..We did couple more things during Diwali, on the 4th or 5th day of Diwali we would go and watch Shahrukh Khan's movie. It was like a tradition.😆 Also, going to temple, Lakshmi Pujan on Dhan Teras, Chopda Pujan at my Dad's office on Diwali Day and Kuldevi puja at my uncle's house. You brought back so many sweet memories that are connected with 90s Diwali. 😊
