Not Akshay Kumar but THIS actor was the first choice for a period dram

Allegedly Akshay Kumar is all set to reunite
with Yash Raj Films after a long span of
eleven years in their next period drama. No
confirmation has been made yet but
everyone in the industry knows that the
film is being made. Helmed by Dr
Chandraprakash Dwivedi, this mega budget
will be based on the life of Prithviraj
Chauhan in which Akshay will be seen
essaying the role of Rajput warrior from the
12th century. While many are excited to see
Akshay in this different avatar, only a few
know that he was never the first choice for
this film.
What came in as a surprise was the fact
that it was Sunny Deol who was the original
choice for this period drama. Yes, you heard
that right. The same was confirmed to
Filmfare by Sunny Deol himself.
The actor told, "Yes, I was working on that
idea but unfortunately, I'm not part of that
film now (Laughs). It's the same story which
I had worked on with Dr Chandraprakash
Dwivedi. I feel very happy because I want
that film to be made. I want Dr saab to
make a film of that genre because he is an
ideal person for it and he has got
everything with him. Main nahin hun to
chalta hai, koi aur kar raha hai. Kam se kam
vo film ban rahi hai. It's very important.
When mentioned that he could have truly
done justice to this historical genre, the
actor said, "I don't think the makers feel
that is the case otherwise they would have
taken me (Laughs). It's really something
which one cannot talk about.
