She returned and found Maan sleeping with his laptop on. She looked at him sitting near him. She touched his face causing him to sit up straight while Geet got up like she was caught. "You finally came...I dozed off waiting for you, Inu was waiting too, He said. "Ah..yes I just came by sorry that I was late, She said. "Wait I got something for you and Inu, He said going up to his closet. "Here take these, He said handing her two raincoats. "What are these for .., She asked. "You can use them in rains...I thought it would suit you two, He said. "Thank you, She smiled. "I was just updating the blog, He said. "Maan can I ask you something, She said. "What is it, He said. "Why didn't you put my name in the blog ...I'm sorry I just..., She said but was interrupted by him... "It is because I don't want to be misunderstood ..., He said. "Misunderstood by whom, She asked. "Trisha..You have a girlfriend.., She asked her heart broken by this piece of information. "Yes...she moved to another city but comes to visit sometimes...she will be coming soon and I don't want her to misunderstand me so...I'm sorry I excluded your name, He said guilty thinking he hurt her by not putting her name not knowing the actual reason for her hurt. Her phone rang and she excused herself. "Yes Mom, She said. "Geet, you are late for your lunch dear, Her Mom said. "Alright will be there, She said disconnecting the call. "I will be back after my lunch to take Inu for his walk, She said. "Alright, He said. She left his house but the thought of him having a girlfriend really broke her heart. Maan looked out from his window to see her safely entering her house. He went back to get ready for his part time job. "She looked sad...I guess I should have included her name too..., He thought. Geet and her mom had their diner . Her Mom could see her otherwise cheerful daughter was a little sad today but she didn't ask much of her, she never was a pushy parent ...she knew her daughter will tell her everything when she will be fine. "Mom, I'm going out for a walk with Inu, She said. "Geet...dear it looks like it might rain soon...I think you should cancel the walk for today, Her Mom said. "Don't worry Mom, we have raincoats, She said not listening to her Mom's advise.
Geet entered Maan's house to take Inu with her. His Mom saw that, "Dear, I think you should cancel the walk for today, the weather is not good and there is an alert for the storm too. "It is fine Auntie, Maan bought these raincoats for me and Inu, She smiled. "Maan bought something ..., His Mom thought as she knew her son never bought anything for anyone not even for his so called girlfriend. She really liked Geet better than Trisha and wished her son had a much better choice than that girl whom she did not like. Her thoughts were bought to a halt when she heard Geet's voice, "Auntie, we are leaving. She smiled looking at the two dressed in similar raincoats they looked so cute.
They started their walk and as expected after a little while it started raining. Geet picked up Inu hiding him from the rain as he was scared from the loud thunder noises. She looked around and found herself near Maan's workplace. Inu barked to gain the attention of Maan who was working in the store. Maan was surprised to see the two of them there.
"Why are you two out in this stormy weather, He said. "I thought we should show you how we looked in these raincoats you bought for us, Geet said not knowing how to cover up. "Geet this was so irresponsible of you ..., Before he could complete she got angry.
"I thought you would be happy seeing us in this, She said angrily before throwing off the raincoat and running off in the rain. Maan was shocked to see her reaction he was just worried but she took it wrong. He picked up her raincoat and turned to his boss, "Sorry Sir, I have to go. He told going after her. Geet angrily ran through the stormy weather.
"He could have appreciated our raincoats but he just started giving me a lecture on irresponsibility, She thought. "Hey look out, A man called and Geet looked up to see an umbrella flying towards her scared she closed her eyes. Before it could hit her Maan came in and saved her then picking up the umbrella and giving to the man who thanked him. "Are you alright, He asked. "Your hand its bleeding, Geet said looking at his hand where the umbrella hit.
"It is fine ...are you alright, He asked. "..I'm sorry, She cried. "It is alright, now don't cry look you are getting wet so wear this and if you cry Inu will be sad too, Maan said making her wear the raincoat again. "Alright, She sniffed. They went back to their houses and Maan got his hand treated though it was a minor cut but Geet insisted.
"Whattt, you like that idiot Maan, Pari said while completing the art they were making for the upcoming annual function. "And to top it that idiot has a girlfriend, They said shocked. "Hey don't yell like that, Geet said looking around. "Alright, alright...but honestly to think that boy can have a girlfriend is plainly odd ...Trisha..hmm...oh now I remember she was in our previous school but she left when her parents shifted to another city.., Meera said. "Geet, then go ahead and tell him you like him...see his girlfriend is plainly non existent ...a long distance relationship hardly works, Pari said. "But he seems happy ...I..if I say anything and he rejects me then may be I will lose the chance to play with Inu too, She said. "Listen Geet...then it is a war and you should try to win, we are with you, Meera said. "I...will try, Geet said nervously. Her friends cheered her up.
They walked back home. His mobile beeped and he looked at it curiously. "Another advertisement...my message box seems to be full of those..., He said scrolling the messages. "Waiting for a message from your girlfriend, Geet said. Maan was embarrassed hearing that. "Trisha is coming tomorrow but ..tomorrow is our annual fair how will I meet her, He said. "So what, you can go and meet her, Geet said. "I have a stall to host and I can't leave that responsibility to someone else, He said. "I will host it on your behalf, don't worry you go and meet her, Geet smiled but her heart was crying. "But ...I don't want to...let me message her to come on next Sunday, He said trying to type but Geet took his mobile. "Maan we are sharing the responsibility of Inu so why don't you let me help you in this too...you just go I will manage alright,She said. "Are you sure ...but if you have any trouble just call me okay, He said and she nodded. They bid each other goodbye but Geet was sad. She called Pari and narrated her everything. Pari was angered and scolded her a little too for letting him meet his girlfriend.
Next day arrived and Geet was set to host Maan's stall for him. Much to her dismay it was something she was never good at karaoke. Maan waited for Trisha at the school gate but was worried for Geet as well so he went in to check on her. He was shocked to see how she was trying hard to make people participate but was instead ridiculed by some seniors. His phone beeped and he saw the message from Trisha, "My city had a major blackout so I will be late, I'm sorry. He looked at Geet and replied while rushing towards her, "I'm sorry Trisha, can we meet up this Sunday, I'm held up with schoolwork. He rushed to Geet hating himself for even agreeing on that idea of her replacing him. "Can I sing, He said. Geet was shocked to see him there. "But you...your meeting ..why, She was at a loss of words. "That can wait, let us make this event work together, He smiled.
She nodded happily and he helped her in the event. Their event was awarded the best at the end of the the annual fair. "I'm sorry because of me you had to cancel your meeting, Geet said. "It is alright Geet, Trisha will come on Sunday, I messaged her and I'm sorry too for letting you go through that situation alone, He said. "Alright but one more thing I will keep the chocolate box in that prize we got. Inu will love it too, She grinned. "Hey no fair you can keep the rest but the chocolates are mine too...I helped you didn't I, He argued. "The chocolates are mine and that is final, She said stubbornly. "Alright, you take it, He sighed.
Geet took Inu to a walk after school and shared her heart, "I'm happy that we won Inu...though I wish we could be more than friends and you know my friends said they will help me to get my love isn't it good, She giggled rolling happily on the grass with Inu.
Inu didn't got the head or tail of what she spoke but he barked happily seeing her happy. She gave little chocolate to Inu as the tthe doctor had warned her not to feed animals more of such food. They were returning when she saw Maan running towards them, "You both are late...it is dangerous to be out so late...get back before it is dark. He was worried when he saw the time and ran to look for them. Geet looked at his worried face, "Were you looking for us that diligently. "Of course you idiot I was worried, He said taking Inu from her walking back to their home. Geet smiled to see his concern but then she saw him checking his phone and was reminded of the reality.
The next day they came back from school and Geet showed him her notes for giving a bath to Inu. "Look here I downloaded the procedure of dog's bath from the net now we can get Inu to bathe easily, She said. "Wow you got it all noted, He said looking at the notes. "It says dogs don't like water on their faces so we should wash the body first, She read. "Geet, summer vacations start tomorrow...are you sure you want to spend all your time with Inu, Maan said. "I like being with Inu, I don't have anything else to do too, Geet said. "There are many boys in the school who like you...I have been asked by several guys if we are dating or not...I think you should give them a chance, He said. "I haven't noticed that so.., She said nervously. "Geet, you are bought up in a convent so may be you didn't noticed but I think you should give others a chance, He said. Before she could answer a strong wind blew making the paper almost go with it. Maan and Geet both reached out for the paper at the same time making their heads collide, Maan immediately maintained a distance mouthing a sorry. "It got crumpled after all the hard work you did but at least it is still legible, He said.
"Hey Maan what kind of a person is Trisha, Geet asked. "Why do you want to know, He said. "I want to know, please tell me how is she, She asked again. "Well she is a nice girl, He said. "How much nice is she to you 50%, 100%, She asked. "What ...what are you saying, He said not getting her meaning. "How much nice is she ..., She repeated. "To me she is 100%, He said.
