Lipstick Under My Burkha director Alankrita Srivastava to direct Veere Di Wedding's sequel?
Veere Di Wedding starring Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania released on June 1, 2018. The film was co-produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.
Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer Veere Di Wedding is winning all the accolades and has gone on to do a good business at the box office. The movie released on June 1, 2018, and has collected over 75 crores at the domestic box office.
After the stupendous success of VDW, the makers are mulling over a sequel to the hit. While Shashanka Ghosh directed the first part, according to DNA, the makers are keen on having Alankrita Srivastava onboard as a director for the next part. A source informed DNA, "Ekta wants Alankrita Shrivastava (director of Lipstick Under My Burkha) to direct VDW 2. Nothing has been finalised yet, but that's the idea they are toying with.
Veere Di Wedding revolves around the lives of four friends who are dealing with adulting. The film won several praises for its progressive content while many bashed it for a masturbation scene.
Alankrita's last directorial Lipstick Under My Burkha was also critically acclaimed at the box office. The movie starred Ratna Pathak Shah, Kokana Sen Sharma among others.
After Veere Di Wedding, Sonam will be seen in Sanju next wherein she has a cameo. Apart from that the actor also has Zoya Factor and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh in the kitty. On the other hand, Kareena has reportedly signed a film opposite Akshay Kumar for Dharma. However, no official confirmation on the same has been received.
