It has been 2 months since Maan and Geet had shifted to Chicago.Geet is four and a half months pregnant now.Her morning sickness has reduced a little bit.With the change in location,life of Geet too changed for good.She started to think mostly about the baby..somewhere she had started move on.Not that time healed everything..but her heart had gained strength to endure the pain...

And for Maan,his life had become blissful. With Geet being with him made his life happy.He had someone to care for him.He never felt alone. From morning to night,he would wait to spend some time with Geet and Baby.He would share everything related to his work, how his day went,whom he met..every details of him.He himself couldn't believe that he could talk and express this much.Maybe him being alone all these years made him quite.But now he had someone to share his happiness and worries.

It was one such day,Maan returned to their flat after he completed his duty.He saw geet munching a packet of chips and watching some random channel."Hai geet!!,said Maan."Hai Doctor saab,said Geet winking at Maan.Whenever she wanted to tease him,she would call him as Doctor saab'."You will never stop calling me like that na Geet...,asked Maan and Geet giggled and this made Maan smile too.

"Geet I am really famished yaar...I cannot cook today..so will order something for us, said Maan.From the time Geet came to stay with him,Maan never allowed her to enter into the kitchen for cooking.He would make food for both."No Maan..the food is already ready,said Geet making Maan wonder."Did you cook Geet?,asked Maan sternly.Geet sat as if she didn't hear anything."Geetanjali I am asking you..did you cook?,Maan asked with a raise in voice.Geet just nodded her head."How many times I told you not to do any work..then why the hell did you cook,said Maan.This was the first time he actually raised his voice on her and she got scared.

Her eyes started watering and Maan cursed himself for shouting at her and making her cry.He composed himself and sat near her."Geet I am sorry yaar...I shouldn't have shouted at you.But you were also at fault na...I asked you not to take stress and you cooked...thats why I became angry yaar..really sorry Geet!!Don't cry na,said Maan.But it was of no use..she was going on crying."Geet...please stop crying baba!!I am sorry..agar tume chaho toh mujhe do teen tapad maro na..but stop crying,pleaded Maan and then he started to talk with baby."Hi champ!!See your Mumma..she is totally a cry baby.Please you don't be like your mumma ok!I can't handle 2 cry babies at a time..,and he kept on talking animatedly with the Baby.

"Aaj baby ki mumma ki birthday hai,said Geet.Maan stopped talking with Baby and looked at Geet."Today is my birthday Maan..so I thought to prepare something for you.You did soo many things for me..and I thought atleast one day I can give yoy rest..thats why I cooked for us today.I made pasta sply for you..,said a crying Geet.

Maan just engulfed her in his arms."I am soo sorry Geet.I shouted at you..that too on your birthday!!I promise it won't happen again,said Maan and without thinking placed his lips on her forehead and said,"Happy birthday Geet!!Wish you all the happiness dear.I am sorry I really don't know your birthday..else I would have prepared something special for you!,said Maan without breaking his hug.

"Thank you..but main aapse baath nahi karungi..aapne mujhe data..woh bhi mere b'day k din mai..so I am not gonna talk with you,said Geet.Maan came out of the hug and said,"Ok..don't talk with me..but today I thought of giving you an icecream treat..now you are not taking with me..so Baby and I will go..haina champ!!,said Maan. "Hawww...Ok..maaf kar diya..so take me also..please Maan..please,said Geet.Maan was amused seeing Geet changing the mood on hearing the word icecream'.Such an innocent soul.

"Geet tum ek dum buddhu ho...without you how will I take the baby and give him ice cream treat...ab tak baby paida nahi hua,said Maan with a laughter.Geet pouted and gave a fake angry look to Maan for making her a fool.But after sometime she too started to laugh.

Both had their dinner and Maan took her to the nearby ice cream parlour.They both had fun and returned to their flat. Maan made her sleep and went out to make some arrangements.

Next day,Geet opened her eyes lazily but the sight of her room made her surprised. Her room was filled with lot of balloons and her near her in the bed she found lot of toys.She couldn't believe her eyes.And there was a b'day card placed at the table.Geet slowly got out of the bed and rushed to Maan's room.Maan was shocked seeing her rushing towards him.Geet him hugged him and was thanking him again and again for the beautiful b'day gift.They didn't feel awkward being in each other's embrace.

"So how was our birthday gift Geet?,asked Maan."Our??,asked Geet surprisingly."Haan..it was not from me alone..it was from my champ too...haina Champ? ,he asked as if Baby is listening to him.

"Ohh!!So it was from baby too..thank you Maan and thanks baby.I loved the gifts ,said Geet."Par Maan why you are always calling baby as Champ..girl bhi ho saktha hai,said Geet."No it will be my champ...,said Maan."Don't you like girl baby Maan?asked Geet."Aisa nahi Geet..during my childhood days my Mom promised to give me a little brother on my b'day..and I eagerly waited for that day but..,Maan stopped all that went to his past and Geet felt very bad for him.She tried to change the topic,"Maan why are you not ready yet.See its almost gonna be 8!!You have to leave for your duty!!Come on!!Get ready fast!,said Geet.

"Geet today I took leave...but anyways we are going to hospital for your check up!!And today we will get to know if its a baby boy or baby girl,said Maan.(*Heard that finding gender of the baby is not illegal in US*)."Pakka baby girl hi hoga Dr.Khurana..dhekna,said Geet..but deep inside her heart..she prayed that it was Baby Boy as per Maan's wish...

Both reached the hospital in which Maan worked.More than Geet,Maan was excited to see the baby.Dr.Ava Taylor(Gynecologist) greeted them and after few minutes of talking they went for Sonography.Maan and Geet were awed seeing the little baby for the first time.Both had tears in their eyes out of happiness.Being a doctor himself Maan found out the gender of the baby..but still Geet was unaware."And its a baby boy Dr.Khurana,said Dr.Ava.Geet gave a pouting look to Maan while he grinned after what Dr.Ava said..but in this both failed to see the frown of Dr.Ava.

Still few tests were to be conducted..so Dr.Ava asked a nurse to accompany Geet while she requested Maan to stay behind.She turned the pages of Geet's reports and also asked for the pictures of sonography at the earliest.Within few minutes those pics were also delivered to her.Maan was restless and he asked,"Whats the matter Dr.Ava?Is there anything to be worried?,asked Maan.She handed the reports and pictures of sonography to Maan and by seeing them he became numb. "Seeing the reports we can clearly tell that its Spina Bifida and it is very much complicated Dr.Khurana.Though we can opt for an operation,we can't guarantee that the baby would survive.Chances are very less.You have seen many cases and you must have known that in such situation we would only suggest abortion!!",said Dr.Ava Taylor.

Maan's mind was completely blank after he saw the reports.The first thought that came in his mind was Geet.He knew definitely she wouldn't agree for abortion.This baby had become the reason for her existence.If she came to know about this..then she will lose her will to live.And he too became attached to the baby.He had dreamt many times about the Baby,Geet and him happily living in their won world..But everything started to crumble down today.All the dreams that he had dreamt of..started to fade away."No..I can't let anything happen to him...Noo,Maan said to himself.

"So we should soon discuss this matter with Miss geet so that...,but she was stopped by Maan."No Dr.Ava..please don't disclose it to her..she will be shattered..please don't tell her..we can find a way!,said Maan."I can understand what must be going through you Dr.Khurana...but the baby is not yours..its hers..and the decision will be hers!,said Dr.Ava.By seeing the thin layer of tears in Maan's eyes Dr.Ava could understand that he was attached to the baby..but destiny has its own game..no one can change it.

"And we have one chance...we can go for operation,said Maan."But the chances of the operation being successful is very less Dr.Khurana...almost nil and you know that better.said Dr.Ava dejectedly."But without trying we can't lose Dr.Ava..I know that nothing will happen my Champ..I will save him,said Maan.Dr.Ava could clearly see that the man who is talking with her is not a doctor..it seemed as if he is the father of the baby and is willing to go to any extent to save the baby.

"As you wish Dr.Khurana...if the operation turned successfull I will also be glad.And I am willing to help you in this case..but we cannot take any step without Miss.Geet's permission..afterall its her baby.But breaking this news to her may increase her stress too...Is someone from her family is here?,asked Dr.Ava."No except me..she don't have anyone,said Maan."Then we can't do anything except to tell her this...I can't hide it from her,said Dr.Ava."Please don't let her know Dr.Ava..it request you!!,pleaded Maan.

"But its against our law Dr.Khuarna..before doing anything related to the baby,we must get approval from its Mom or Dad..its a must Dr.Khurana,said Dr.Ava.But after lot of pleadings and requests from Maan, Dr.Ava said that she won't disclose it to Geet.They both knew that they are risking their jobs by hiding it from Geet.They can even be sentenced to prison for doing it..but they both took the risk.
