Kumkum Bhagya is all set to witness a new entry with TV heartthrob, Mishal Rahejacoming as a new character on the show which will mark the beginning of a new journey in Abhi and Pragya's life. In an exclusive conversation with the TimesofIndia.com, MishalRaheja spills the beans about his role, on why he prefers taking a long gap between his each show and reminisces his Laagi Tujhse Lagan days.
Kumkum Bhagya is already a hit show and the characters are already established. Is there any kind of pressure on you to enter the show at this juncture.

"I see at it with a different perspective. I feel when you enter a show which is already such a huge hit the pressure on you is less. It is like a gift and I won't have any tension to maintain the ratings. I can be relaxed and just focus on my part. So it is only a win win situation, says Mishal.

The good looking actor has been very selective about his projects and has been a part of handful yet successful shows in his decade long career. Ask him if he purposely plans his long breaks between each shows, "I have never planned my breaks it has just happened. After Laagi Tujhse Lagan people thought that I purposely kept myself away from television, but it's not like that. I was busy doing few others things which unfortunately did not materialise. I did a short film for a youth channel in the meanwhile. Then I returned with Ishq Ka Rang Safed in 2016 and now after a 14 months break I am back with Kumkum Bhagya, reveals Mishal.

The Ishq Ka Rang Safed actor makes the most of his long breaks by learning something new during the gap, He says, "I also feel you should give your fans a break to forget your previous character. Audiences keep watching us everyday and our roles get imprinted in their minds. So it's necessary to give them a break. Also I like trying out different things like I went to US and made music. I worked on an album and see that experience is helping me to play this role. Since I learnt singing, it has become easy for me to essay the role of a rockstar.

Mishal doesn't feel that male actors are used as mere show piece in the show. "There have been surveys which have proved that TV is a medium widely watched by women. Personally I don't think male actors are used on the show as mere show piece. I feel even if you have a screen time of 5 minutes there is a chance to get noticed. If you do your with full conviction and hardwork there's no chance that you will get unnoticed in a show, explains the actor.

When asked if he still awaits for a role like Datta bhau to come his way since it was strong and much loved, "Datta bhau's character was a god's gift to me, but I can't keep thinking all my life. I have already done the character and achieved success now I have to move on I can't keep thinking about it, feels he.

Apart from his role in Laagi... his fans loved him in TV show Love Story which was directed by filmmaker Anurag Basu.

On being quizzed if there are any plans to bring back the show, he said, "Even I want Love Story to come back in fact I have spoken to Anurag Dada many a times and requested him to return with the show. I have also spoken to the channel which aired it, but nothing materalized. All three of us the main leads we still meet each other atleast once in a week. We are in touch even after so many years of the show."

Mishal, who touched new heights with his show Laagi Tujhse Lagan, regrets quitting it when he was at his peak. "I regret quitting Laagi Tujhse Lagan at the peak of my career. I wish I had the same knowledge and maturity about the industry back then. I wouldn't have taken the decision. I now feel I shouldn't have left the show," concluded Mishal.

Halleluja! Our stubborn mule of a thespian has finally had an epiphany! It only took ten years for him to come to that realization. 😛 All jokes aside, I'm glad Mishal's finally showing more maturity in his interviews. I'm glad he was able to experiment with different genres within entertainment, but he was meant to act! I hope he takes his skills as an actor into consideration when choosing his next project. 😊 He's gotten the most love from his fans being an actor!
