to speak up about issues like depression
and body shaming. Ileana D'Cruz is one of
the few actors from the industry who has
not held back and has talked about these
issues.
Ileana says that there is a lot of pressure
when one is a celebrity. She has to look
good all the time, the way her fans expect
her to be.
She says, "For someone who has had body
issues, and doesn't consider herself
attractive at all, it affects me even more. But I
think right now, I have dealt with the fact
that I will be seeing pictures of me which
are not flattering. I will have people judging
me on if I looked good on a particular day
or not.
She said that initially even she felt the need
to impress everyone and get good reviews
about her looks and pictures. But later, she
understood that it is not possible to please
everyone. She thinks that it is rather better
to accept the reality and move on.
The actor had earlier revealed that she
suffered from Body Dysmorphic Disorder
during her teenage years, and this led to her
slipping into depression.
She said that sometimes, even now, she gets
upset whenever there are some harsh
comments on her pictures or looks. She
added, "There are also times when you don't
want to get a picture clicked, but you have
to oblige the photographers. That gets a
little annoying, but I have grown to accept it,
and now I try not to crib about this. No
matter how great you look, people will still
find faults with you."
Ileana went on to say that she never sees
herself as a celebrity but always calls herself
an actor. She said that she never wanted to
become famous, but rather, preferred to be
an actor since the beginning. She said that
she craves to lead a normal life and carry out
the normal chores.
