Anand planned a surprise for my b'day when we started dating: Sonam K

Bollywood actor Sonam K Ahuja has had quite a phenomenal past one month. The actor tied the knot to her long-time boyfriend Anand Ahuja on May 8 in a traditional Indian ceremony and celebrated with her industry friends and colleagues in a star-studded reception later in the same day. She took off to Cannes soon after and came back only to promote her latest film Veere Di Wedding, co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhasker in key roles.

Even though the film opened to a mixed bag of reviews, women have flocked in large numbers to watch the women-led film. And now, Sonam celebrates her 33rd birthday today.

Sonam holds a deep value in her heart for birthday-like occasions and expects her near and dear ones to be there. But her fondest memory of birthday celebrations dates back to her dating period when her husband Anand Ahuja flew down to Mumbai and pulled together a surprise for her, reports DNA.

She has been quoted as saying, "When I had started dating Anand I had met him for just two months, he had planned a surprise for me. He had flown down to Mumbai and booked a restaurant. Nobody knew we were dating that time, so I didn't know how he pulled off everything

Anand is one of those rare men who still write cards, Sonam revealed, adding that her deal was sealed the first time she'd met him while filming Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. She told DNA, "I had never met somebody in my life who would do this for me. It was really sweet and special. I'm a vegetarian, so he planned the whole menu accordingly, played some of the songs that I love and gave me a handwritten card as well as some flowers. I don't know many boys who write cards. Anand is one of them.

Sonam further shared that one of her dearest birthday gifts is a customised quilt which Swara had gifted her. "Swara had given me a children's razai which had posters of all the books that I loved as a kid. Khalid uncle knows I love art, so he keeps giving me little things. He cares about me and I love him to death. It comes from a place of so much love, she has been quoted as saying.
