Storm Brewing
Big banners and the big stars they have in their films have made it a practice to book their release dates well in advance. But then there are times, more often than not, when these films fail to hit theatres on their scheduled dates. And that seems to be the case with Akshay Kumar's next film GOLD. Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, and director Reema Kagti had booked Kumar's favoured Independence Day date for the release this year.
However, rumour has it that some work is still left on the film and it might be postponed from August 15. While it may be an issue for them to find another good Friday this year, a bigger issue will be faced by the industry as the release date of all the other films around that time will go haywire, which usually happens when a big film shifts. Let's wait and see what happens when other filmmakers looking for a release get a whiff of this.

2.0 In 2019?
Talk about when Rajinikanth's 2.0 will grace the silver screen has been keeping the grapevine busy for a while now. And with good reason. The movie has been in the making since 2016, and even though the shoot wrapped on time, there is a lot of post-production work yet to be done. The film is very heavy on VFX and we hear that it is nowhere near completion. Word is that the much-awaited film, which was to release this year, has been pushed to 2019. Well, that seems to be the price of making a film on such a grand scale.

Guess Who?
This film has already failed to meet its originally announced release date and it is almost certain that it is not going to be ready for its currently scheduled release either.
The reason for this delay is that there is plenty of work still pending, especially in the VFX department. To make matters worse, the budget of the film has already ballooned to alarming portions and the co-producers are arguing over who among them should contribute the funds required to finish the film.
This promises to be an epic tussle both the film itself and its completion!
Guess Who?
Sometimes, films clash with each other simply because of the egos of the key people involved on both sides and the desire to be one up on the other.
That's not true, though, in the case of this upcoming clash currently scheduled a couple of months from now. In fact, the lead actor of one of the films in question has been imploring his producers to move to an alternative date purely on emotional grounds his rapport and history with the other film's director. However, the producers are holding firm as they believe that their chosen release date is the best possible one for the film.
Full marks to the actor for trying, though, and proving that sentiment isn't dead in our business yet.
