Legal trouble continues for Prernaa Arora and her production company?

There seems to be no respite for Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor's KriArj Entertainment, which exited Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran, after the legal wrangle with John Abraham's JA Entertainment. The company, which was sued by Gothic Entertainment for non-payment of dues, was said to be at the receiving end of Justice Kathawalla, in whose courtroom in the Bombay High Court, the Parmanu matter was heard on Tuesday.

Gothic's petition under section 9 (related to Pad Man and Parmanu) was heard separately as the company was not made party to the Consent of Order in KriArj's case against JA Entertainment, which was decided on May 10. Reportedly, KriArj owes Rs 18.32 Cr to Gothic, of which the former's cheques amounting to Rs 17.15 cr, issued to the latter, have bounced. Gothic had sued KriArj under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act and also filed complaints against the production house with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Justice Kathawalla ordered KriArj to deposit Rs 5 cr of the money they owe Gothic, in court in three weeks. Moreover, SPE (Sony Pictures Entertainment) Films India is also to deposit the money due to KriArj for Pad Man. SPE, which is said to have deposited Rs 5.45 cr, is also to file an affidavit, stating the deposits in lieu of Pad Man.

Sources present for the hearing tell us that the KriArj's lawyers requested Justice Kathawalla to ensure that Prernaa, her mother Protima and Arjun are not arrested by EOW following the FIRs against them. Says a source, "Justice Kathawalla assured them that they wouldn't be arrested on Tuesday. Further, he said he wouldn't interfere in the EOW's functioning, if its officials seek their arrest.
