My dear Priya,

The same questions as for siyanu. Have you read my post? If so, did you like it? If you have read it and liked it, why have you not pressed the Like button?

Now this, my dear Priya, would have been hilarious.😆 Unfortunately, not even Siddhartha Kumar Tewary can change the fact that Darius was murdered by Bessus shortly after the battle of Gaugemela!

As for the way Alexander is being demonised, don't let us even talk about it. It gets my BP up.

I could not agree more with all that you have said here, Ayesha, and I have almost nothing to add. The few comments I have are in blue.

Seriously the entire Alexander's dealing with the ladies track had me pulling my hair.

What do the writers want us to believe??
That Alexander is a narcissistic sociopath who can't care for anyone?😡 What happened to the chivalrous gentleman whom we had seen in the previous episodes?

This makes me think that so far there were very little to no scenes where we saw Alexander expressing his emotionsIt was only with Hephastion and Olympias

What are the CVs trying to convey exactly? That Alexander cannot feel anything? That he cannot be compassionate or gentle? 🥱

Historically Alexander clearly respected the ladies of Darius' household.Sisygambis was a mother figure to him and he arranged for Stateira/Barsine and her sisters to be educated in the Macedonian ways if I am not wrong.

Hindi main bolun toh CVs ka kya nuksaan hojata agar Alexander ko thoda accha dikha dete?? Bhai we know he is ruthless, kroor, magroor blah blah blah
Aur kitna blackwash karoge usko?? The way he spoke to Barsine in the precap was plain threatening. As if he is some kidnapper and they are his hostages.

Well, my dear, I have been, metaphorically speaking, crying myself hoarse for several weeks and more about the persistent attempts by the CVs to demonise Alexander. Such positive titbits as were shown were quickly cancelled and worse by the negative inputs, of which the ranting of the Delphi High Priestess' assistant was the second worst, the worst being their showing Alexander killing the Pythia, the High Priestess herself. That was a deliberately cooked up story that Alexander could never have lived down had he actually done it, and the Alexander in Porus has this millstone permanently round his neck.

Now they have suppressed Sisygambis and her abundant love for her adopted son Alexander, and stood the story of his generous gesture, in protecting Barsine & Co. and giving them all due honour , on its head, and made out as if it was ONLY a political ploy, and if there had not been that factor, he would have had them killed!😡

It is enought to give any rational person high BP. I am lucky in that my BP is chronically low!

The precap made me hopeful about Roxana but I am worried as well.
I just hope Swastik has mercy on me and doesn't butcher the AlexAna track though I am keeping my expectations low.

Everything said and done Rohit Purohit is magnificent as always⭐️
No matter how Alex's characterization is the way he portrays it is so perfect that I always feel that he is Alexander The Great❤️

Now coming to Puru and his Power Rangers(coz they are five people😆),bhai, inko aur koi kaam nahi hai???
Will they go all way to Bactria after Alexander???🤪

Alex-Barsine is out of question now.Maybe they will show Alex turning soft thanks to Roxy's mohabbat and taking charge of his duties towards the Farsi ladies and marrying Barsine.😆

Either way I hope Roxy kicks some sense into her beloved Bhaiya Puru's head

I hope she kicks him good and hard. Period.

I needed all this fooling around by you youngsters to rid me of the surging irritation that possessed me after I watched the episode last night. Thank you, my dear.

Yes, it is a fiction show, and I am old enough to know better. But I have always adored Alexander as a historical figure, and Rohit brings him to life so superbly on the TV screen that I had practically adopted him and grown very possessive about him. So when the CVs trash Alexander, it makes me see red.

The downslide has picked up speed after Issus, and as I wrote to Ayesha above, the statement that Alexander spared the lives of Barsine & Co. and gave them all due honour solely in order to unearth Darius' hiding place was not just illogical. It was the unkindest cut of all, with apologies to Mark Antony and the Bard of Avon. The whole depiction of Alexander in the last two episodes was negative, first subtly, with the fake drunken scene, and now overtly, when he is made to look like a black hearted thug holding these abal naris prisoner.😡😡

I would endorse all that you have said by way of explanation and mitigation, but the fact remains that for the average viewer, with his or her mind half on dinner and half on Porus, the impression that this Alexander will leave will be overwhelmingly a bad one. I don 't think that will matter at all for Rohit as an actor, but it does matter for me as a viewer. So I wish Alexander had pulled up Hephaestion about his remark, and insisted that it was a matter of honorable behaviour by a king. Also if he had anticipated the possibility of a fracas between his troops and the Persians, and issued orders to prevent it from degenerating into a general killing spree, and this despite the stone throwing. The offenders could have been chased away by the men on horseback. But then the CVs WANT Alexander to be caught on the wrong foot.

Let us see what happens tonight. If only Puru could have lost his hold on that ledge! Alas, such wishes are bound to remain unfulfilled!😉

I can see why they dropped Egypt. They could not have managed to project the grandeur needed. But now they are only 3 years away from the battle of the Hydaspes. What are they going to do to fill up the remaining 130 odd episodes?

Dear Aunty,
Am on duty at the moment so this will have to be short.
First of all, I have wired my brain to think of this Alexander as Sony ka Sikander who is not the same as History ka Sikander. 😆 It saves me a LOT of headache and heartache. I keep no expectations of reality having any influence so I am quite happy to spend half an hour with a fantasy story. Otherwise I would be like you, railing hard against the CVs for the dysfuntional portrayal of Alexander.

Same way, Sony ka Puru is not history ka Porus. So I am happy to sit back and cheer for the goodhearted foolish hero of my fantasy story.

I am over my fascination for grey characters. Maybe its the events going on in my life but I have found that unless a character is good or is willing to try and be a good person, I find no reason to spend effort on them. My GOT days are over! I cant even watch the kind of shows I used to watch before. Too much negativity and twistedness. Thats why I chose to watch Porus actually. A hero who is actually a good person struggling against difficult enemies and does not go about sleeping or marrying several times in one story. He is good but not perfect. And thats the way I like my characters now.

Thats all for now. Love Ankita.

My dear child,

I don't want to disturb you at work, but you can read this at leisure, and you don't have to respond to it.

I just wanted to flag one point, that my post, or rather my comments, were mostly about the Alexander in the show, rather than the historical version. Except the Sisygambis angle, and there, since they could not have shown their relationship any other way, that too could be for the Sony Alexander. So, my main argument and grouse that the PH are deliberately blackening his character remains, and it is valid.

I have never watched even a .single episode of GoT, and I used to wonder how my brother liked such sickening stuff as it sounded. But I enjoy grey characters, provided that when crunch time comes, they turn at least off white!😉

I am also mildly pleased that in the Friday episode, Puru is finally beginning to display some good sense in his assessment of Alexander. There seems to be some hope for the boy yet!!😆 More in my post of tomorrow about this episode.

Take care, my dear, and don't run yourself ragged.

Affectionately,

Shyamala Aunty
