Infinity War v Second Quarter Hindi Films

Avengers - Infinity War has come and smashed the box office in India with first day collections of over 30 crore nett. The storytelling of the film is more Indian than most of our own Hindi films. The way we see it the last real Hindi film was Baaghi 2 and the next is Race 3. This is not about HIT or FLOP as Race 3 could flop as there is no thing as a certainty but its made in the traditional Hindi film format so will at least bring in an audience all over initially.

But now there is a gap of two and a half months between Baaghi 2 and Race 3 which is practically all of the second quarter and there will be 15 Hindi films with some some sort of awareness and around 25-30 other releases. These films are Hindi films but only because they are in Hindi language, the cinematic language is definitely not Hindi. Maybe we are being a little harsh on Raazi as that is not as bad as the others but you have doubts on the pacing of the film to really reach out to the wider section of the audience. All these 15 films combined will have around 100 crore plus spent on promotion but the opening day number of all these films combined is unlikely to touch the Avengers - Infinity War day one number which is a foreign film which pretty much spells it out.
