The first quarter of the year has indeed been quite an interesting one. We have had a slew of releases, most of which have managed to make an impact on us. And while the male protagonists have impressed, it were the females who stole the show. Thank the scripts that they signed or the changing times actresses got a lot of opportunities this year to show off their skills. With roles written to do justice to their calibre, actresses managed to sink their teeth into meaty characters. And we were having a difficult time deciding as to who was the best of them all. So, we asked you to choose from your favourite from among Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Anushka Sharma, Radhika Apte, and Aditi Rao Hydari. And the verdict is here...

You have chosen Deepika Padukone as the winner. She is who you voted as the best actress of the first quarter of 2018. With 41 per cent votes in her favour, Deepika has won with a huge margin. Calculative and witty at times, coy at others, Deepika breathed life into the queen who is a very important part of the Indian folklore. Her undying dedication for her king would move even the most stoic of all to tears. Such a winner! No wonder she was paid more than both Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor for the film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the filmmaker who bought Rani Padmini's story to life, too, realised that it was a tale of the queen and hence the one who plays it, must get her due. Following closely in Deepika's heels is Rani Mukerji with 35 per cent votes for her act as a teacher in Hichki. Then comes Anushka Sharma, who fetches 21 per cent votes for taking a risk with a film like Pari and pulling it off too. With 2 per cent votes and 1 per cent votes, Aditi Rao Hydari and Radhika Apte follow.
