I think its to add drama factor and that is why most of us are not able to connect to CVs logic..In reality after what Sameer has gone thru , and having a lover like Naina , friends like Muna and Pandit he wont fall into a trap like this...we should also keep in mind of his behavior during the bet phase where he could have ill treated Naina in many ways but he didn't . In fact he took the blame on to himself.
Above all his grandfathers teachings are strongly engraved in him...he cannot loose track at 18 yrs.

Exactly we are all trying to make heads and tails out of this track... esp when the same boy says he is ready to take responsibilities of his sister and the next moment lapse of judgement?
I understand he needs to grow up and has to go through some things to mature.. but seriously this?
exactly nananji, naina mundit and his mom... and even now somani is trying to trust him...and he turns around this way??
CVs I am sure you have this all cleared up in your mind... but dont loose us in this whole winding game...
so my argument is at fault--- he himself feels disgusted with smoking and the behavior and stil follows it out of being bored at home?
he has always fought for right and have done right even to Rakesh sir .. how can he change like this?
I agree, he is at fault... After all those things he has gone through and learnt to handle situations. After wanting to be a responsible person and proving himself a hero when he realized his love. Nanaji's word and promise at death bed that he would take all responsibility on his shoulders and become Sameer Jai prakash maheshwari. Promising Naina that he will try to stay normally with his family and promising his mom to become a good son... How come he gets drifted off. There could have been so many things to pass time...
