Don't know about Chagan, I mean everyone (except Chakor and Imli) has good and bad side and it's up to everyone to strengthen one or other, it's possible he will do stupid things but I think at the end of all this he should be back to his original self.
You girls made an interesting disscouision about Karan. I think he is really known guy, famous businessmen or something like that, that's why workers from the shop reacted the way they are. If he is famous they will never doubt him, because people generally think that if thief come to steal something he won't leave you money even if it's not value of stolen goods. If not famous businessmen, then he has surely come to that shop before, and behaved the same way, leaving money, so even if he stole from that shop before he wasn't suspected. Shopkeepers can also suppose Sukor stole the necklace, Suraj was interested in it and by the way they left after Karan and his women. Since they are no from Mumbai chances someone will look for them are low, even if someone asks for them they will leave Mumbai enough soon. And this is Udaan, logic doesn't applys always here, and many little details will missed inthis show forever.
He needs reason to stay in Azaadganj, and that reason defintely can't be his charm. There needs to be story with Suraj, or he will continue the story he will probably start in Mumbai and that's woman's work. Think guys, if he is there, whatever his hidden motive is, and pretend to be with Sukor, encourages women by promising them the same amounts or salaries like for Gauri, it will increase Chagans anger and he will be more and more under Imlis influence. Also if he meets Imli after exhibition and later on offers money for Gauri work wouldn't that fit in story? Some vilagers will stay at Sukor's and fake Karans side while some will like you suggested be against that like Chagan. Maybe women's will want to work but husbands will forbid them... Sukor will be busy trying to solve conflict and promote opportunity which Karan is giving while he can planning how to steal that idol and Imli will have more opportunity to brainwash Chagan even more and comes close to Saanvi's kidnapping. But then Karan can backstab her and save Saavi, because he will have change of plans. Maybe Imli will find out trough Chagan Suraj's business secrets and reveal it to Karan and when she kidnaps Saanvi he will save her, so he comes more closer to Sukor and slowly offers Suraj a business deal. That deal can be his way to takes mansion from Suraj, or something that will have biggest money value for him then gold idol. Once he reveals his plans and why he backstabed her to Imli she can join him. This can be dragged for months.
