Aishwarya Rai Bachchan On Bringing Up Aaradhya: 'Not An Army Of Help, Have One Nanny By Choice'

NEW DELHI:

HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Aishwarya made her first film 4 years after Aaradhya was born
  2. "I spend all my time with Aaradhya," the actress said in an interview
  3. Aaradhya celebrated her sixth birthday in November last year
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opened up about her experience of dividing duties between being a "busy" star and a mother to her six-year-old daughter Aaradhya in an interview with Vogue India. The 44-year-old actress said that she is well aware of the perception that a celebrity mother must have plenty of assistance in bringing up a daughter by virtue of her being a star but, that's not how she planned her motherhood to be. "I spend all my time with Aaradhya, and I have one nanny, by choice," the actress said in the interview. "I read comments saying, "Ah, she must have an army of help" and I understand the perception, but I choose this way, which means life is always busy," she added when asked about her day's schedule.

Aishwarya, who sure has a busy roster on the work front, added that every experience counts and as a mother, retiring as "tired" is not really an option for her - "B-positive is not just a blood group and that everything in life is a learning curve". "That's something I'm imparting to Aaradhya," she added.

By now, it is well known that Aaradhya Bachchan is Aishwarya's favourite travel buddy and plus one at parties. Only recently the mother-daughter duo featured in headlines after Aaradhya attended the big fat Ambani bash as a special guest. Apart from parties and Pro Kabaddi matches, Aaradhya is also a Cannes regular, just like her mother - she has been accompanying Aishwarya to the French Riviera since she was a baby.

COMMENTS
Last year, while attending the Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya told PTI Aaradhya is now accustomed to the ways of being a star kid: "Because she is travelling with me, meeting new people, seeing our world, I don't have to sit her down and tell her what her mother does. She sees it, she is growing up with. She has now developed an ease (with media) which you all are seeing."

Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan married in 2007 and Aaradhya was born to them in 2011, which was a year after Guzaarish, Aishwarya's film with Hrithik Roshan. She made a comeback on the big screen with 2015's Jazbaa and also went on to star in Sarbjit and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. She will next be seen in Fanne Khan, co-starring Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. She's also been approached for the remakes of Woh Kaun Thi? and Raat Aur Din.

The fact that you have to boast about this speaks for itself. A lot of women balance kids, husband, and a full time job without any help or nannies or even neighbours. Your situation is anything but normal.

^Normal for those who are privileged. Of course she only speaks with her experience.

Just like having three meals a day is normal for middle class people, whereas there are many people who starve or struggle for even one square meal a day.

Normalcy changes with perspective.

Chances are she doesn't have to cook breakfast lunch or dinner neither do dishes nor attend to her in laws. Yes she might have only just one nanny but she definitely has other servants who do the rest of home chores. It sounds like army of help to me.

You do realize that this is an interview... in which questions are asked ? And she's supposed to answer why :)

That would be true for almost all upper middle class Households too...servants have been common in well off families the sub-continent since forever.

Like someone mentioned she is speaking from her own experience..it will obviously not be your experience or even tie into your observations of what life is like wherever it is you live.

In Mumbai, especially in affluent families, theres a day nanny, a night nurse and usually a dedicated driver for the kids!

ok 😆
Why do you need to announce that. They just asked you for your routine right ? anyways, to each your own.
Poor Abhishek, no where in the picture of her view of family , no mention of him whatsoever.
Also its bit strange that Aishwarya takes Aaradhya to adult parties e.g Ambani bash.
