Bhalla House

It is almost midnight. Everyone in the Bhalla House has gone to bed. Rimi quietly unlocks the door and walks into the dark. He is relieved that no one saw him leave or come in.

As Romi is walking past the kitchen he is startled hearing a voice.

Mihika: Look who is back!! So kaisi rahi tumhari late night date? Ya long drive pe gaye the? Ya phir gulcharre uda rahe the kisi hotel room...

As Romi turns to face the kitchen Mihika turns on the lights and stands in front of him. She looks very angry to see him.

Romi: Shut Up Mihika!! Jis bare mein kuch pata na ho us bare mein tum kuch na hi bolo toh tumhare liye accha hoga.

Mihika glares at Romi! Romi was about to yell some more when he remembered what Ishita had told him- to try to talk sense into her calmly and rationally. He softens his expression and takes a softer tone and continues to talk to Mihika.

Romi: Dekho Mihika... bina dusare ki puri baat sune...

Mihika who is in no mood to listen to Romi's explanation yells at him some more...

Mihika: Puri baat!! Puri baat sunke hoga kya... phir tum wahin excuses banaoge. Aaj tak yahin toh karte aaye ho!! Rishton ki taraf tumhari aaj tak koi imanadari rahi hi nahin hai...toh puri baat sunke hoga kya..

Romi: Mihika tumhari jaanti ho sabse badi problem yahi hai. Apne bewajah ki gusse ke aage kuch dikhta nahin hai tumhein. Aur isi ke chakkar mein tum apni sabse badi dushman ban baithi ho.

Mihika: Gussa!! Haan mujhe gussa aata hai but Woh bewajah nahin hai. Tumhari harakaton pe aata hai mujhe gussa. Aacha thik hai once and for all prove kar do ki mera gussa bewajah hai. Batao itni raat ko kahan se aa rahe ho tum?

Romi: Woh main...

Romi stops mid sentence. He thinks how to tell Mihika why I had to step out of the house so late at night...I can't tell her the truth! No one must know what I have done or else all hell will break lose in this house! I must lie to her.

Mihika: Woh main kya???

Romi: Ek client ka urgent call aya tha. Usi client se milne gaya tha.

Mihika: Kaunsa client hai zara naam toh batana.

Romi: Tum nahin janti usko. Woh hamara client abhi hai nahi... I mean potential client hai... ek naya business venture discuss karna chahta tha.

Mihika: Agar potential client hai toh use office mein bula ke official capacity mein meeting karo na! Yeh kaisa professionalism hai tumhara?

Romi starts getting frustrated with Mihika's continuous interrogation. He starts to lose his cool...

Romi: Mihika abhi baat utni aage nahi badhi hai ki official meetings ki ja sake. This meeting was just to discuss an idea.

Mihika: Romi tumhein acche tarah se jaanti hoon! Kab tum sach bolte ho and kab jhooth yeh aaj se nahin kai saloon se samajhti aa rahi hoon main. Khair ab tumhari life tumhari hai. Jo karna hai karo... mujhe kya!! Ab bus kuch dinon ki formality hai phir jo dikhawe ka baccha kucha hamare beech hai woh bhi khatam ho jayega.

Mihika goes back into the kitchen, picks up a glass and takes out a bottle of water from the refrigerator and walks away.

Romi stares at her walking away.

Romi thinks mutteting out to himself how much Mihika has changed. Had she been the old Mihika He had once married then she would be the first person He would tell where he was. But now she has changed so much that she is the last person He can tell. He thinks no matter how much he tries Mihika wont understand. He feels there is nothing he can do to stop the divorce. Still lost in his thoughts Romi goes to his room.

Iyer House:

Ishita hasn't been able to sleep all night. She was restless and kept tossing and turning in bed. Raman came to their house yesterday looking for Pihu and all he said to her was to stay away from the Bhallas. But how can she stay away from her own house, her husband, her children and her family?

Frustrated Ishita wakes up and starts cleaning her already clean room. When that does not help calm her down she goes to the kitchen.

Ishita remembers that Pihu wanted to eat dosas today. She thinks she can make dosas and have them sent across to the Bhalla house.

She quickly starts making dosas, sambhar and fresh coconut chutney. This distracts her mind and her mood improves.

Raman's bedroom:

Raman has had a peaceful sleep after many days. He wakes up feeling fresh and relaxed. Yet his room looks the opposite of what he is feeling. The files and papers that he had thrown on the floor in frustration yesterday are still lying scattered everywhere. His clothes are also lying on the sofa in a messy pile. Yet Raman has woken up in a good mood. He had a great time at the hangout in Ruhi's room yesterday.

Raman realises that its still very early in the morning so everyone would still be asleep. He checks his watch and thinks hopefully the newspaper man has left newspaper outside so he can read the paper peacefully while he waits for everyone to wake up. Maybe then he can get a cup of tea and start his day.

Raman walks out of his bedroom, heads towards the main door to fetch the newspaper. He opens the door and bends down to get the newspaper. As he stands up he is taken aback to see Ishita standing in front of him.

For a second Raman is taken back by her beauty. She is dressed in white with no makeup yet her skin is glowing. Raman quickly gains back his composure.

Raman: Aap yahan kya kar rahi hain?

Ishita: Good morning! Woh actually kal Pihu ne kaha tha ki usse dosa khane ka man hai aur woh actually meri neend aaj jaldi khul gai...actually main soi nahi so isliye jaldi uth gai... nai woh I mean main bus puri raat sone ki koshish kar rahi thi...

Raman is highly amused seeing Ishita mumble like this. Yet he remembers that he should be annoyed at her.

Raman: Aapke neend ka hisab kitab ho gaya ho toh aap kam ki baat karengi??

On hearing Raman, Ishita realised that she is blabbering away like a silly child. She hadn't expected Raman to answer the door. In fact her plan was to text either Adi or Ruhi asking one of them to come open the door and give them the dosa she had made. Ishita quickly pulls her thoughts together.

Ishita: ummm...

Raman: Kyun Jhansi ki Rani apna lecture yaad kiye bina aa gai?

Ishita's heart skips a beat when she hears Raman say those words. She smiles shyly at him and her eyes glow with mischief as she looks up at him.

Ishita: Kya karoon mera dialogue writer philhall aapke liye lines jo likh raha hai...

Raman stares at her and then gets flashes of their nok-jhok from the past but the images in his head are as always too blurry and he cant remember anything clearly...

Raman: Mai apne dialogues khud likhta hun. Waise kuch kam hai toh bataiye warna mujhe aur bhi bahut kam hai...

Ishita: Woh kal rat ko Pihu ne kaha tha use dosas khane ka man tha. Toh maine socha breakfast mein uske liye dosas bana doon. Wahin dene aai thi...

Ishita gives Raman a bag of packed food.

Ishita: Aapko theek lage toh use breakfast mein khila dijiye ga.

Ishita turns away to leave, then stops and turns back to face Raman...she notices he hadn't taken his eyes off her even when she had turned. Their eyes meet and in an instant Raman is lost in her eyes.

Raman thinks that why does he feel like her silent eyes are trying to tell him something everytime he looks into them? What is it her eyes are saying? Or are her eyes looking for something in him? Is she silently looking for answers to questions he can't understand? He can see her eyes are trying to tell him so much but why can't he understand exactly what they are trying to say?

Ishita is the first to break eye contact. She clears her throat, gives him a slightly mischievous smile. Raman also looks away but not before he notices a slight blush that has appeared on Ishita's face. Ishita speaks to Raman with a grin...

Ishita: Waise Dosas thode extra pack kiye hai maine. Mujhe laga shayad Adi, Ruhi, Aliya ka bhi khane ka man kare. Waise itne dosas toh packed hai ismein ki un sabke khane ke bad bhi shayad thode kisi aur ke liye bhi Bach jaye.

Raman: Mai un sabko bata dunga ki aapne dosas bheja hain.

Raman nods a silent goodbye, then slams the door at her face before she can say anything further.

Ishita does not notice that Raman abruptly closed the door on her face as she is lost in her thoughts and instead of going home she sits in the corridor itself.
