Luv Ranjan's Sonu Ki Titu Ki sweety is hailed as Youngistaan genre of movie ,for the genext audience. The yo yo audience.
Actually i watched it few days ago and i concluded that the basic storyline is that of a tug of war between the gold digger and the righteous person for the central character that we have seen in TV , are seeing presently and will be seeing ahead in TV.
Its a TV serial concept. Period.
The plot of scheming amidst tug of war for a central character can be seen in almost many Tv shows which u call as saas-bahu serials .Kum Kum Bhagya, Kundali Bhagya and the list is endless where the villain is trying to marry one of the lead character while the other character is trying to foil the plan
The only difference in Sonu Ke Titu Ki sweety is that the setting is different. Just put some slangs beeps to appeal to MTV youth generation. Present the characters as uber cool urban citizens to resonate with the young cinegoers.
The skeleton of the story of sonu ke titu ki sweety is same as a saas-Bahu serial. They have just added flesh in the story in the form of youthful songs, slangs, sex talks, minimal clothes.
Those who know about Indian TV and have watched Sonu Ke titu Ki sweety will realise that the film is an updated modern version of an Ekta Kapoor Serial.
For past one year Ekta Kapoors KumKUM Bhagya was in news for streching this plot where the lead character is being charmed by a gold digger and the righteous lady is in battle with the gold digger to win the battle for the man. Here the difference was just the righteous person was a male.
Even the ending was melodramatic as a Balaji Telefilms serial.
The gold digger plotting scheming that you saw in Sonu Ke Titu Ki sweety is actually TV SERIAL INVENTION. That is the reason TV gossip news programme in news channel has been named as saas, bahu, SAAZISH. The word Saazish is due to this concept in TV that you saw in the movie.
I dont say the movie is bad , My issue is that...these are the same young population who criticise these ekta serials day and night, complaining about this scheming plotting tracks. Calling them regressive serials.
But now these young generation has been served the same plot and theme but in a modernized, upgraded version..and the youth is just in awe of the movie.
Wow Hypocrisy at its best.
