of the power couples in Bollywood. The
couple has been married for 19 years and is
blessed with two children - daughter Nysa
and son Yug. There have been reports that
the two will team up for a film.
They were last seen together in the 2008
film U Me Aur Hum. During a recent
interview, when one asked him why he
hadn't teamed up with Kajol after that film.
On this, he said, "Kajol and I are at a stage in
our respective careers where we cannot
play stereotypical characters. Unless a writer
or a filmmaker comes forward with a script
that is challenging and justifies our
presence in the same film, it's going to be
hard for us to act together. When we were
younger, it was a breeze doing something
like Hulchul (1995), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha
(1998), or Raju Chacha (2000)."
"Years later, I directed her in U Me Aur Hum.
I'd love to do a movie with her and I'm sure,
if you ask Kajol, her answer would also be
the same. However, a routine love story may
not be the ideal script for us at this stage
because we've been married for two
decades," added Ajay.
On the work front, Kajol is currently
shooting for the film Eela. The movie is
being helmed by Pradeep Sarkar and
produced by Ajay Devgn. Eela is an
adaptation of Anand Gandhi's Gujarati play,
Beta Kaagdo. In the movie, Kajol will be seen
playing the role of a single parent and the
story will revolve around the relationship
shared by a mother and son.
Earlier, talking about Eela, Kajol said to a
leading daily, "I liked the script honestly,
liked the lines, everything. I like my character
of Ela (a single mother), I identify with many
of her things."
Speaking of Eela, Pradeep said to a leading
tabloid, "I was offered the script around
four months ago. It took me a while to
understand the Gujarati tone but eventually,
I fell in love with this extremely emotional
story which boasts of some really strong
characters and there's a chance of people
getting really close to them."
"I am getting involved in the dialogue and
character-building as there are a few
insights that I want to incorporate to make
the film more endearing. This is not like
Parineeta, where everything was detailed,
this is more free-flowing, a character and
music driven film," the filmmaker continued.
Ajay is all set to star in a film titled Raid. He
will be seen playing the role of an Income
Tax Officer based in Uttar Pradesh. The film
will be set in the 1980s and helmed by Raj
Kumar Gupta of No One Killed Jessica fame.
