Alia Bhatt's upcoming release sees the actor
pair opposite Vicky Kaushal for the first time
in Raazi, which is directed by Meghna
Gulzar.
For the uninitiated, Raazi is based on
Harinder Sikka's best-selling novel Calling
Sehmat. Alia plays a Kashmiri woman who is
also an Indian spy providing information
during the Indo-Pak war of 1971 while
being married to a Pakistani army official
(played by Vicky).

In an interview with a leading tabloid, Vicky
spoke about how he prepped for Raazi. The
actor revealed, "Even if a film is adapted
from a real incidence, the director remains
your one point reference. As an actor, you
have to surrender to their vision and that is
what I tend to do with every film. I have

learnt to give myself completely to the
director and to essay the character assigned
with utmost honesty."
On what it was like working with Alia and
Meghna, Vicky continued, "They all such
great individuals; I had a ball of a time
working with them. Meghna is one of the

across. Alia is one of the most amazing
actors today. She is spontaneous and
organic as an actor and really honest,
humble about her work."
Earlier, in an interview with a leading daily,
Alia got candid about her role in Raazi and
said, "I'm going through one of the most
extensive preparations for this film. The last
time I did something like this, was for Udta
Punjab. But that also was only with the
dialect. Raazi is about dialect, body language
and things like driving a big heavy jeep...
Shifting those gears is a different ball game
for me altogether. I am learning Urdu so it's
also going to help me in the longer run. I'm
playing with the language for over a month
now and every day, I am sitting with it for
hours. I know most of my dialogues by
heart right now because I have been
reading them over and over again. I am
having a lot of fun with it."
Raazi is slated to release on May 11, 2018.
