Aamir Khan is likely to produce Gulshan Kumar's biopic Mogul.

It's an AK v/s AK situation. Akshay Kumar,
who had given his nod to Mogul, the biopic
on the late music baron Gulshan Kumar, has
reportedly exited the project. In the last few
weeks, he has avoided answering a direct
question on this topic. However, one hears
from reliable sources that the actor has even
returned the signing amount.

franchise had told us that his work on the
script is still on. Now, there has been a new
development or like the filmis would say,
Kahani mein twist hai'. One hears that Aamir
Khan, who says no' more often than yes'
when it comes to movies, has reportedly
stepped in to produce the film. After he
takes over the reins, one doesn't know what
changes are due.
A source says, "Aamir will produce this
biopic, which itself is an important
development. Whether he will play the lead
is not yet decided. No other details are
known as of now.
Aamir has shared a cordial relationship with
Gulshan's son Bhushan Kumar and his
family. Some of his most memorable music
has been distributed by their label and they
share a successful professional relationship.
Despite repeated attempts, Aamir remained
unavailable for comment.

So that blind few weeks back was about Akshay but on Mogul. But why is Akshay wary of playing Gulshan Kumar? Hindu business who sold bhakti sangeet killed by his Muslim friend. Fits with what the RW likes to see.

Hmm, I want this movie to happen! will be very interesting/fresh to see what goes on behind the scenes of playback music composition :)

Aamir doesnt need the saffron gang thanks to China. Whatever he might lose in India monetarily he can make up there.

Chinese distributors don't share profit. They buy a movie paying a measly amount then whatever they earn that's their money. China just helps some BW n HW stars to save face.

Most HW productions get 25-30% of it's collections in China...and for SS Aamir is going to get as much as HW films...

Even for non-Chinese release, no producer gets profit share from the distributors (Unless the producer himself is distributing). Generally a Hindi movie is sold to all Indian distributor, overseas distributor, and TV/Online. Lion's share comes from all-Indian distributor, which is as much as its budget. Rest of the money the producer gets from distributors overseas, TV/Online, Music.. that's the producer's profit.

So, how come miser China is being so generous and paying the producers 12% profit share instead of buying the distribution rights at cheaper price?

earlier they used to buy films in a fixed price...PK was brought at a fixed price...first u said Chineese distributors don't share profits which is wrong...The revenue cut for HW movies had increased from 10 to 25%...why would they release their movies in China if they r not profiting from it?Even forced Chineese product placement in their movies like in Transformers:The Last Knight,Mark Wahlberg drinking the dairy drink Mengniu in a South Dakota...just bcoz it's predecessor had grossed 320 million dollars there...
