Happy New Year Indrani!!!! You hit the nail on the head really. There is a big distinction that has to be made between art and vulgarity, because I think many Indian film/TV serial makers fail to comprehend this. As much as it is painful to see such mediocre rubbish dished out in the name of entertainment, the more pertinant and scary issue is this obsession with sex. Is this really what the Indian society considers acceptable? I mean, take for instance the Chaha's sexual feelings for Sharanya. Was that necessary and in what way did it move the story forward? It was a completely unnecessary track which was introcuced to bring in a sexual perverted quotient. Similarly with the recent news of this mirror and sex in front of the mirrors (well it is that, and note that I make the distinction here between sex and love making) and the ghost, what is the purpose of such a convuluted set up? The ghost is around her 24x7. What was the need to bring this perveted track? And what does this actually make Sharanya? It is one thing to get married because a strange sadhvi asks you to and another thing all together to have sex because someone asks you to. What kind of a woman does this make her. I am fairly certain that at the end of all this nothing will really happen, but then my point again about forcing the sexual quotient into the whole plot. It scares me that if you can openly show such content on national tv, perhaps many Indian men do think of women as sexual objects or fantasise about sex more than they should - I mean look at the amount of sexual violence against women, girls and even infants in our country! Or perhaps I'm blowing the whole thing out of proportion and giving too much importance to the sexual fantasies of a perverted writer!I prefer my serious peices to this. Will PM the last one I wrote:))
