Suman Tiwari startled back to the present and swallowed sadly yet a gleam sparked in her eyes. She was finally going to see him after 8 years! She could feel her heart pasting nervously.
She came out her thoughts hearing Dabbu "Suman didi meri superman t-shirt Kahan hai ?" he asked .Suman smiled shaking her head helping her little cousin who was little chubby with round cheeks, which she loved to pull
"Tumhare t-shirt ke niche" She ruffled his hair ,Daboo's eyes was always surprised that his elder cousin, growing up he thought she had magic powers. She always knew where everything was !
Shravan was in his room taking a deep sigh ,its been 8 years and he was sure a lot had change .The argument and issue they had was during their teenage age and most people move on from their past issues .He hoped it was the same with her .He didn't hold any anger or grudge against her . They were both immature teenagers, getting into an argument!
HE was aware of the fact that in their teenage age there were many mood swings and silly fights! One fight in particular that they took seriously. Shravan thought maybe at that time when he invited her to the Ball she didn't have feelings for him and was still upset but now he hoped things would change .All he wanted now is to just have a good time at the dinner and wanting to see his friend again who he missed so much!
The next day
Shravan was in his room getting dressed to go to Tiwari villa. Pushkar walked in borrow his perfume.
"Pushkar were going for dinner, Not to see your future wife ." he teased
Pushkar chuckled giving his brother a playful grin "Not mine Yours!"
Shravan stopped fixing his hair and looked on confused "what do you mean?"
"Come on Bhaiya , you know badi Ma has an eye on Sumo to be your future wife "
Shravan dropped his comb in shock "What?"
"Don't tell me your not secretly happy!"
Shravan didn't know what to say, was his mom really considering Suman for him?! If so , he did feel happy inside but then it's been 8 years and didn't know if she would be interested.
"Badi Ma already mentioned it to Nanu once .."
"What did he say? Shravan asked with curiosity
"Nanu said when it's the right time they will discuss it again "
"Ohh I see ...when he finally gets to meet me "
"Well Bhaiya the time has come! Trust me when you see her you would go on your knees to marry her .."
Shravan smiled shaking his head yet had a slight blush .One of the reasons of returning back to India was to see Suman again ...He missed her and ready to meet her .
The Malhotra's attended the dinner at the Tiwari Villa .Every family member was so happy to see Shravan, his height became to topic of conversation. They welcomed him with open arms, especially Nanu who was so proud of his accomplishments! Shravan took his blessings and gave his Nanu a warm long hug. He never met his grandparents but since childhood Nanu became his adopted grandfather and never missed out on his love.
They all settled down, Shravan sat with nanu as Daboo was entertaining them with his cute talks. Shravan remembered he was just a baby when he left for London! He turned out to be quite cute and smart kid asking very intelligent questions.
Everyone were just mingling around the ladies were sitting together near the kitchen and the men just conversed about politics in the living area . Preeti met Shravan and sat with PushkAr showing him pictures from her college camp trip . Shravan was listening to the grown up talk which was getting boring and got up checking his phone.
He then saw a woman walking out the kitchen holding a tray of juice and distributing them around .Her smile was beautiful and she laughed when Lalaji cracked a joke to her . She carried herself with grace and confidence .He knew she was Sumo! Pushkar nudged Shravan
"There's Sumo" he teased ,he knew while growing up that these two definitely were becoming more then just friends but unfortunately things spiralled down .But he was hopefully that things will definitely get better!
"I figured "Shravan had a boyish smile lingering on his lips
He found the dusty pink Anarkali fitting her slim body frame perfectly, with her long dark brown hair straightened over her shoulder .She was wearing minimal makeup yet her skin was glowing.
Shravan and Suman's eyes finally met and they gazed on . Suman could feel tingling in her body as she took each step closer to him . He was always handsome but now he looked like a professional model! His body looked more fit and built and definitely became taller! .His jaws became sharp and grew a full stubble. She sensed his intense gaze on her making her feel self conscious and nervous.
She just prayed that he won't look away angrily or ignore her!It would break her hopes! She didn't hold anything from the past against him, she missed her friend and was so excited to see him!
She forwarded the tray to him with a smile "Hi"
Shravan was so lost in her beauty and took him few seconds before answering.
"Hi .." he felt his heart racing gleaming , he couldn't believe she was standing right in front of him !
"Please take one" she said signalling with her eyes filled with dark coal enhancing her attractive brown eyes . Shravan lips curved up from the corner taking the juice but his eyes still glued with hers .His sharp intense look made her heart flutter and felt her cheeks heating up.
"Thanks ,it's been a while " he said trying to start a conversation with her after hearing her voice after so long! It was still the same yet more sweet
Suman nodded "I know ,How are you?" she didn't miss how his voice changed in a deep yet masculine voice ,which was very appealing to her ears .
"I'm good ,how about you ?"
"I'm fine, I'm sure your family must be glad to have you back she said pleasantly
It was a bit awkward, they didn't speak for 8 years ! But both seemed to have matured and didn't seem to hold any grudges or anger towards each other . They had regrets for sure but for the moment we're enjoying conversing with each other after all these years! Their smiles spoke volume, no matter what the issue they argued on in the past they were just happy to see each other.
"It feels good to be back "
Suman tried to act casual but her heart was just thumping really hard "I'm sure , I mean everyone missed you "
"Everyone? Including you or excluding you?" He teased yet noticed her cheeks turning a shade pinker, it was very cute .He didn't think his comment would cause this reaction from her. He was enjoying it .
Before she could answer Pushkar quipped in "Sumo! I hope you made Shravan bhaiya favourite palak paneer"
"I tried to make everyone's favourite dish "She was casually trying to recover from his comment! She would lie if she said that she didn't miss him and thought about him during these years ! She wanted to send him a friend request on Facebook but never got the courage scared of being rejected ,that would have killed her hopes completely of reviving their friendship .Also she didn't want to interfere in his life, he probably moved on to other things.
The food was settled on the table as everyone served themselves. Shravan noticed all his favourite dishes on the table. Yup! It was definitely all for him!
He saw Suman going the kitchen helping her Mamiji something's didn't change he thought .
Pushkar and Shravan sat on the floor with Nanu and the others.
"Suman beta ! Come eat with us there's nothing more to do "
"I'm coming Nanu just have to fry few more samosa!" She said from the kitchen.
Suman finally made her plate and sat next to Shravan since it was an empty spot .
"The food is amazing; add me to your next customer list for PCT
Suman grinned sweetly and nodded "I will"
"Pushkar told me you started your own tiffin center! I'm so happy for you ,you made a business out of your passion ! I'm really proud of you Sumo"
She was admiring his encouraging word and gave him a thankful smile .She started telling him how it all started; it only made him admire her even more. She became the bread winner for her family and taking care of them.
Pushkar reminding them of the games they played and the funny incidents that happened. They were all laughing reminiscing.
"I remember me and bhaiya always came with Ramnath uncle and Nirmala aunty just so we can eat Sumo's handmade food " Pushkar said to Preeti
"And criticize my food !" Sumo added shaking her head
"It was healthy criticism "Shravan cleared
"Well Mr . London return I've learned to cook to perfection let's see how you like my desserts ! "Suman said challenging
Shravan chuckled when she called him London return .He adored the way she mingled with them just like old times.
" I can't wait! "he said as she shared a smile with him
"Hey you didn't take any of my special chutney !"she noticed
"Don't worry I'm going for my second plate !" He announced smugly
She shook her head "bhukar" she murmurs only to bring a smile on his face . He remembered she made biryani once and kept asking her for more .Since that day she would call him Bukar and he liked it .
He was glad to see these small details still didn't change. They were glad that their conversation carried smoothly and that there wasn't any awkwardness anymore .It felt like two friends meeting after so long and catching up.
"Sumo Yaar! What's in this chutney! Its spicy as hell!" he said chugging his water
"Dont blame my Chutney! You just got in the habit of eating English bland food!" She teased
Everyone laughed and Shravan shook his head taking her glass ,her eyes widened amazed how quickly he drank her water.
"Here have this !" she filled her spoon with rice and fed it to him easing up his mouth.
They were both starting to comfortable with each other again, it was a nice feeling for both. There meeting turned out better than they expected!
Later in the evening dessert was being served with tea. Shravan was showing Dabbu how to play a game on his phone, as everyone settled in the patio area .
Shravan eyes kept looking for her and whenever she appeared a smile curved up his lips . Suman was very aware of him but kept her pasting heart in control. She had to admit his sharp mischievous eyes made her heart flutter .After he left for London Pushkar and Nirmala would update her apart from that she never kept tabs on him like she wished she did .
Shravan got up to get some desserts as Suman was pouring tea for everyone. "Is there enough for me ?"
"Of course "she said preparing him a cup adding 2 spoons of sugar just the way he liked it .
"Thank you " he said tenderly "You still remember ?"
"How can I forget you always made me add more sugar she pointed fondly "Don't forget to taste my Gulaab JAmun and tell me how you like it
"Don't worry I will "he said putting the whole piece in his mouth .Suman eyes widened and shook her head ,something's never change !
She waited patiently and he gave her a thumbs up reaching for his second one ! She grinned happily and added other sweets in his plate. Shravan felt like a spoiled kid again ,she would always add extra in his plate whenever he came over .He was never shy to ask her for more .
Later they sat in the patio area as Preeti and Dabbu announced that they were going to play Pictionary!
They all got into two groups, Shravan and Suman were paired up with Vandy , Kamini , lalaji and Varun .The rest were in the other group , Ramnath and Nanu went upstairs to play chess and Nirmala was helping Manju in the kitchen .
The game was going on, there was laughs and teasing throughout the game . Suman sat more comfortably crossing her legs and unknowingly got closer to Shravan on the charpoy. He caught himself staring at her most of the time as she excitedly got involved in the game
"Vandy Babhie come on!!" She cheered
"Ok it's a thing.."
The game went on , it was finally Suman's turn , she got up holding his shoulder for support and walked to the drawing board .Shravan watched her cute expressions as she picked up her slip and couldn't stop adoring her . She smiled looking at her team members and started drawing
"It's a bird? " Lalaji asked confused
"Kuch Bhi Ainvi! "Kamini chipped in "Its a pakora!
Suman was getting frustrated "No its a charact.."
"Sumoo you can tell them anything, it's cheating! " Pushkar warned
"Ok Ok Im not saying anything "She continued her drawing exasperating
"OH! its a Potato!" Shravan said confidently
"Yes yes!! But wait!! " She added eyes and a moustache
"OH !! It's Mr. Potato Head from toy story!"He affirmed
"YES!!!!! "She said giving him a high five excitedly
"I don't see a potato, it looked like a peanut to me" Varun pitched in as they laughed
"OK my turn!" Shravan got up taking off his vest and throwing it next to her .Suman watched on finding him so handsome with his sleeves rolled up and smiled coyly .
Shravan started drawing a circle , they all called out different shapes and food names
"Shravan your drawing skills are still the same ..zilch!" Suman called out laughing
Shravan rolled his eyes "Stop Sumoo!! let me concentrate!"
"OH! its the Colosseum From Rome!" She said confidently and high fived Shravan
"Exactly!"
"The what?!" Vandy asked completely confused
"Don't even try asking Shravan, he will give you the whole never ending definition" Varun teased
"Wow! You both are really good! "Preeti noticed as they both shared a smile.
"Every time we used to play Suman and Shravan just had to be in one team! "Pushkar pointed
They were just so happy to have spent a nice evening together .The chatting and laughing continued within the group, Shravan was showing her pictures of London on his phone with his friends . So far they both loved the evening
Before he left Suman gave him a tour of the Villa again and her room!
"Wow! You added more colour to you room, it's really nice ."
Shravan roamed around her room as memories flashed across his eyes and a warm expression took over his face . She noticed the soft smile on his lips as he touched her furniture
"I still have some of your book you lend me, you could have them back if you want"
"Ya after 8 years I'm going to ask them back from you? it's ok keep them" He assured
She smiled as he moved to her desk and saw their picture in the frame making a funny faces .They both shared a warm eye lock, they didn't need to express how they were feeling at that moment. Even after all these years their friendship still held importance to both of them and will never be forgotten .He stood close to her closing the distance ,she looked up at his tall frame anticipating for him to say something
"Sumo ...We've known each other since we were children, I could never forget the friendship I built with you."
Suman listened on and nodded holding her head low "Me either."
"Do you think ...we can try being friends again?"
Suman couldn't hold her smile "I would like very much". Her eyes glistened happily and shook his hand .His hand was much bigger then hers but fit perfectly together just like when they were kids .
"Thank you for not exploding on me like last time" He joked causing her purse her lips guiltily
"Thank you for not being hostile with me" she appreciated his effort to rekindle their friendship
"Sumo I'm not angry at you" he cleared
"Me neither Her eyes were filled with warmth
Suman was pleasantly surprised that he spoke to her this evening. She thought maybe he would turn his head away angrily or ignore her. But it was the complete opposite, she felt happy that he didn't keep any hard feelings. Likewise Shravan was glad that she seemed to have moved on and wasn't holding anything against him. They both matured and were looking forward to rekindle their Friendship.
Soon the evening came to an end, the Malhotra got ready to leave , they said their goodbyes. Shravan bend down taking Nanu's blessings.
"Shravan Beta, I am very proud of you! Ramnath told me that you were on the honour roll and even fought a case alongside your professor in University!
Shravan smiled "Well I learned from the best! He said giving Nanu a warm hug,Nanu blessed him whole heartily
"I know you will continue to make your family proud !"Nanu was so happy seeing Shravan and was sure that he was perfect for his granddaughter!
He came to Suman and shook her hand tenderly "See you
"Bye" her voice was soft gazing at his tall frame. They both locked their hands firmly yet yearning to give each other a tight hug .
When the Malhotra left Suman was cleaning up and putting out the chairs back in their place . She went on in room making a bun and sat on her bed feeling tired yet with happiness shinning on her face! Suddenly Daboo Walked in quietly yet cutely
"Suman Di aap shaddi Kare ho?"He asked sitting next to her
"Shaddi?Nahi toh Kyun ?"
"Kyun Ke Maine Dadaji aur Nirmala Aunty Ke batein Suni uppar ,Woh kehre the ke aap unko bohut pasand ho Shravan Bhaiya ke liye !"
Suman couldn't believe her ears! Were they really thinking of getting her married to Shravan!! She grinned happily lost in her thoughts. It was definitely a possibility; she somewhere felt growing up that Nirmala always dreamed of having her as her daughter in law!
Daboo stared on confused "Kya aap saach mein Shravan Bhaiya se Shaadi karoge?"
Suman felt as if her cousin was asking to many questions, she hit his head light " Daboo tum kuch zaada bholne lage ho! Sona nahi kya? Chal jaa! " she scold trying to covering her nervousness .As soon as he left she locked the door!
"Meri Aur Shravan ki Shaadi?" Suman heart was jumping g of joy!! Her eyes brighten and smiled like crazy, she got ready for bed still thinking about him. Her feelings for him were always there for since they were in school but became stronger when he left for London. She missed him so much making her realize that she loves him and somewhere praying that he would come back!
Later that night Shravan and Suman lay on their bed , on their phone . Suddenly Suman saw Shravan sending her a friend's request on FB. She excitedly accepted it and started scrolling down his profile .She then surfaced pictures of him shirtless in the gym showing off his abs! Her eyes widened up and became completely flush!
Her phone slipped from her hand and dropped on her face seeing his perfect body !
"Ouch ! " she rubbed her forehead and sat straight against her bed rest ! She smiled going through his pictures some made her flush others made her uneasy especially the ones with his female friends having .There are around him not to mention how beautiful they were ,with brunette hair green eyes wearing nice short dressed .
Shravan grinned happily as she accepted his friend request and started scrolling down her page . It was mostly PCT advertising and logo . He then saw few pictures of her and preeti hugging each other. He saw imaged of her wearing western classy clothes standing with few college friends. He couldn't take his eyes off her, he saw that some pictures of her at a wedding wearing beautiful traditional clothing. She was looking stunning and couldn't stop scrolling down as if he was trying to catch up of the years he missed.
Suman didn't know how she was going to sleep especially after seeing his shirtless pictures. She tried distracting her thoughts but they never swayed away from him.
Shravan put his phone on the side. His feelings for her seemed too resurface after these 8 years she was still the same, her caring and sweet nature. Her eyes would look at him with so much warmth and fondness. He could see that she yearned for him just as much as he yearned for her. He tried dating few girls but he knew inside his heart he loved one woman and she was Suman Tiwari .

"You forgot to pay me for this month!"
"I gave you this month's payment last week plus an advance!"She defended showing him the receipt for proof!
He pointed at her intimidating "NO you didn't! You still owe me money if you don't pay me now I will empty this place within seconds!! "He snapped his fingers and signalled his other men to come in.
"But maybe I could make a deal, if you give me some of your time ..." he started saying about to touch her face but she slapped him hard across the face !
"Don't touch me!!"She warned fiercely
Rajan got furious and embarrassed getting slapped by a woman ! He was about to approach her again but suddenly he felt a firm choking grip around his neck .Shravan eyes darted at him fiercely
