Shah Rukh was in Berlin over the weekend for the screening of Om Shanti Om. During his stay in Germany, the actor was reported to have discussed with the local media his plans to make a special effects (SFX)-laden film. A source present at the event reveals Shah Rukh was overheard talking about his ambitious plan to produce a kiddie flick that will have elements of animation and SFX.
In talks
The buzz is that the film may be directed by Anubhav Sinha and have a budget of around $30 million. A source adds, "Shah Rukh is in talks with Charles Darby (the guy who worked on The Minority Report and The Matrix) who's a visual wizard for helping him on the special effects for the film."
In fact, Shah Rukh has been quoted in an interview to popular entertainment newspaper Variety saying, "It will be madcap, over the top. I want it to be as beautiful as Spider-Man in special effects."
Universal theme
After the worldwide success of Om Shanti Om, Shah Rukh wants to make sure the film caters to an international audience. "The theme of the film will be universal. He wants to break the language barrier and tell a story that touches everyone."
It's reported the film will involve kids who create a fantasy world and realise that their wishes and dreams are coming true.
However, when asked about the project, Shah Rukh denied his involvement in such an animation project!

... while in Shourya he turns poetic
Shah Rukh obliges a close friend yet again; recites poetry for Samar Khan's Shourya

MAIN HOON NA: Shah Rukh Khan with Samar Khan at the poetry recording for Shourya |
Shah Rukh Khan has been there for close friends whenever they've called on him with a favour. He does it once more for Samar Khan's Shaurya.
"I consider Shah Rukh my lucky charm. He played himself at the end of my earlier film Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye," recalls Samar. "Now for Shourya, Shah Rukh will be doing something he has never done — reciting poetry."
Says Samar, "I wanted the film's writer Jaideep Sarkar to pen a poem that describes the film's mood. He came up with Shourya Kya Hai? Jaideep's lines were extraordinarily lucid. I needed a voice and a presence that could make those lines weighty and still accessible to every person in the audience."
Samar flew down to Goa to speak to SRK about the poem. He adds, "Shah Rukh agreed immediately. He wanted to record the poem on his laptop. But I wanted him to do it properly in a studio. The theme of the poem is: we need to find the courage within us to fight injustice and prejudice. Shourya is the film I wanted to make first. But didn't have the courage and the vision to handle as my maiden film."
Inspired?
The buzz is that Shourya is inspired by Rob Reiner's 1992 court-martial drama A Few Good Men. Samar shrugs off the charge. "Shourya is about the court-martial of a man accused of a war crime. But it's not the same as A Few Good Men. We tend to bring that up in my movie's context because it's the only film in living memory about a court martial."
The poem by Shah Rukh will be part of the Shourya soundtrack. "Adnan Sami has scored the music. We'll be giving Shah Rukh's poem a musical interpretation for the album," informs Samar as he readies his film for an April release.
The cast of Shourya includes Rahul Bose, Deepak Dobriyal and Seema Biswas.
