:: A Sunday Morning ::
A shaky breath left her nostrils, as the chilled breeze caressed her face, yet again. Standing in her balcony, with a thin shawl wrapped around her petite form, she looked a sight to behold. Giggling at her own poetic thoughts, she turned around and her brown eyes met with messy hairs, red nose, her lower ridden up to her calf muscles, the shawl wrapped in a weird manner, made her brows scrunched at the window shield, that was acting as a mirror at the moment. Stretching her arms to get rid of the morning blues, she turned towards her previous task.
Curling her fingers on the railings, tightly, her gaze ran over the greenery scattered on the ground not so far away from their building. The large trees swinging with wind, ever so gently. The concrete pathway for morning joggers is occupied from people of every group age. Her lips curved upwards, as she saw the not so naughty kids of her neighbourhood, wrapped in the woollens, with bags, bigger than their own size, dangling on the small shoulders. Walking with their father, towards the bus stop, just at walking distance.
A giggle bubbled up inside her, as she saw the younger boy adjusting his monkey cap repeatedly with his small button nose scrunching to its fullest.
Rubbing her hand, she walked inside their room. Her lips twitched on their own cord, as she looked at the man sprawled on the bed without a care of the world. Sniffling, she noted the time, 8:00 am, on their wall clock. The chilly weather, the shaky winds and the warmth of the covers in which she just entered, has made more lethargic. Today being, the Sunday added more laziness in her stance.
Snuggling more into the soft mattress, she turned around. His soft locks, were covering his forehead, his sharp cheekbones and the dried lips just added a little more charm in his persona than he already is.
Her fingers leisurely moved towards his forehead. At very contact, he shivered on her touch, indicating that he's awake but still tenaciously kept his eyelashes glued. Her fingers were cold.
Moving the tip of her index finger, down his nose sluggishly, she traced the path of his lips, then chin via jawline, her finger reached towards his neck.
"It's cold. Stop doing it! The words stumbled out with his hoarse morning voice. Draping his arm languidly around her, he moved towards her side. Snuggling inside his chest, she pressed her lips to stop the smile gracing her lips, as her red cold nose touched his warm chest through his vest.
"Your nose! he whined still with his eyes closed. The traitorous grin bloomed on her lips as she rubbed her nose more into his warm chest.
Curling her toes, she brought her legs towards his making him jump on his place.
"Heck! he cussed under his breath, his eyes flew open at her audacity. Whilst a sheepish smile lingered on her lips, as she closed her eyes. She knew, her feet were cold as ice due to her morning walk in the balcony. So in order to warm them, with a secondary task of waking her husband from this pretentious sleep, she kept her cold feet on his warm ones, successfully completing her both the talks.
"Haven't I've told you to wear those? he muttered again closing his eyes pointing towards the woollens thrown on the floor, as his arm squeezed around her waist due to the sudden coldness of her feet that has invaded in his warmth.
Looking at the discarded socks, her lips jutted out.
"Not in the morning. She mumbled linking her cold fingers in his which were wrapped around her small form.
"You're cold from head to toe! he hissed clenching and unclenching his fingers around her palms which was reciprocated by a small giggle.
"Hubby? Her endearment which seemed sweeter than other times, made his brow raise quizzically at the one who laid in his arms. Surely, something is up.
Biting her lower lip, she looked at his neck knowing he won't like it but still today she doesn't want to. Shifting more to his side, she muttered something hastily.
" can you makeffee?"
"Pardon? he replied totally clueless of her demand.
"Coffee? she muttered a bit clearly this time, enough for him to hear. Next, she heard him muttering some incoherent wordings. Giving a hard stare, he threw the covers off him, in the process uncovering her too. Wearing his slippers, he walked outside slamming the door shut.
Twisting her nose, she again pulled the covers and guffawed when the door rattled. Though grudgingly, he implied.
Daily, it was her task to bring their morning coffees. But at times, like today she becomes that couch potato, who wants to do nothing. Grinning, she reminisced her broody husband, though he won't show and agree without creating fuss but he understands. And did she just forget to mention, he makes an amazing coffee. Though she knew, for this one coffee, whole day he'll throw his weight around. Nevertheless, she liked this small little things, that add spice to their relation.
Sitting on the middle of the bed, she looked out of the window. The weather has become foggier and chilly. Sighing she pulled the covers up to her neck and patiently waited for her husband to return. Her reverie is broken by a phone call.
"Hello? she answered without looking at the caller id.
"Good morning Bhabhi! she grinned as she could hear gibberish talks of Amita, her niece. Frowns etched on her face, as she heard about the Sunday plan of her sister in law.
"Shopping? she exclaimed and her mind ran in different directions for searching some genuine excuse to deny. She wants to spend this Sunday at home with her husband. Because their last Sunday was ruined by an urgent call from his office for some official work, which has dismayed her and previous to that was plundered by one of her colleague who was on leave that day, so she has to conduct that radio show and boy, he was angry, scratch that he was furious.
Before, she could say a thing. Her mobile was snatched away by none other than her husband.
"Misha, get this straight. We've have plans today, she won't come. Though his voice was mild but the tone held a warning. Furrowing his brows, he stared at his wife who has disbelief painted all over her, whilst his friend on other side couldn't miss the lamest of reason to take his wife. Persuasion at its best!
"She. Won't. Go. Bye. He accentuated each word and cut the line. Switching the gadget off, he slid it inside his pocket and walking towards the cups kept at the table beside their door, he heard some colourful words.
Taking both the cups, he raised a brow agitated.
"What?
"You were so mean. A bit polite denial won't harm. She glared at her husband who reciprocated it with his own.
"And she would have relented? A question of which she has no answer. Her sister in law could be very persuasive when she wants to be. A hard nut to crack! And her husband definitely knows how to tackle his stubborn lady of a friend.
Shrugging at her tongue tied stance, he slipped inside the covers after handing her cup of a steaming coffee. The sweet aroma swirled in air spreading its warmth, taking a long sniff, she leaned towards him and squealed when his cold skin came in contact with her warm body.
"Where is your sweater? she chided irritated when he snaked his arm around her, laughing at her state, to keep her intact.
"Not in the morning. He repeated the same excuse, that she'd given him previously this morning. Twisting her red nose, she held the cup from her both palms to draw some heat in them.
"OK, so what you want to do today? he questioned sipping his coffee.
"I think we've plans. She reminisced him the conversation he'd with Misha not so long ago. And the room resonated with their laughter.
