And this is Anami's point of view, which is very one dimensional and not necessarily the true story for we never heard satrupa's take on the situation and she never disclosed the reasons behind her actions with her own mouth.
We have to understand that satrupa is a mother who lost her first born twin boys to this chakravyuh. And 17 years back she wasnt the power player that she is now. When a mother loses her children to natural causes she could as impossible as it may be atleast try console herself saying that it was fate but what about murder? ( OK I read it on another post somewhere that they were murdered please clarify me on this if I am wrong, how ever murder or not death of children is devastating regardless ) What consolation could she give her destroyed heart then.this war all of a sudden became all too real for her. When she became pregnant again it's only natural that the protective instinct towards her children over rode all else. The very human instinct to do when you want to protect something is to hold that thing close to you as possible. You don't keep your wallet lying around everywhere for people to take, you don't leave your phone just about anywhere. When we walk with children on the road we hold onto their hands tight so that they don't run into danger.how many parents put their children into prams or even carry them around when the children are perfectly capable of walking??
Satrupa was asked to give away her first born child to keep her children alive. She was asked to betray the very instinct of the human being. Could you imagine her plight? If you are familiar with the story of Moses (peace be upon him) or even the story of karn. Then he situation resembles the mothers in those stories. But here's the twist , first born is the boy. But she chose to give away the second born girl instead. Why so? And this is what I think. Satrupa by now already knew that she was stuck in this chakravyuh. At the time she didn't have the power she has now. Laal Mahel would never accept a girl child as the heir, satrupa recently with her own mouth said to dheeru that if anything happens to royal steel then the thousands of people working in it will be the ones to suffer and hence he must mentor Anami so that she will be a good heiress. And thats the thing if royal steels goes into the wrong hands then it would be corrupted, exploited and lots of injustice will take place at the cost of the thousands families dependent on it. And besides logically speaking which child had the better chance at fighting and surviving the chakravyuh? The boy child.had she kept Anami then the fight for her rights as an heir would have been fought and lost a long time ago especially since satrupa had no power then. Besides how long would it have taken for her to get killed by the several enemies of laal mahel, some that lived inside it.giving her away would be the safest for Anami, she will be safe happy and alive. And from all the noble thoughts of vatsalya and his strong sense of morality, equality and justice we know that he was given a good parvarish. He was certainly brouht up to be the perfect heir. She had to make a decision . And she made an intelligent decision like a good player and a good player does not play as only a mother, or a daughter or a daughter in law or a sister or an employer or any other one dimension, good players don't let their emotions rule the roost, they keep their emotions in check , they see the broader picture, they fore see the consequences of their actions and they play from all angles and that was what kept her standing strong in this game. In this chakravyuh. It's a win or die game. As for her not checking up on Anami not thinking of her, vatsalya says in his diary that his mother was alive only with him otherwise she was only existing could that have been because at the back of her mind she still thought of the child she gave up. She could have stopped herself from checking on Anami because it would have broken her emotionally.opened up old wounds.Could it have been because she thought Anami would be safest if she just let Anami be and never interfere? But then fate had other plans and when vatsalya died she decided to bring back Anami not only because she knew avdooth was unfit to be an heir but also because it was Anami's right and now satrupa was powerful enough to not only be heard but to fight and win? So how can we say she is "selfish"? What is her personal gain in all this?
