Whenever people talk about the best Bollywood movies of all-time, I see them talking about Sholay, DDLJ, HAHK, 3 Idiots etc. But I've never ever seen people putting Gadar on the same league, like the above mentioned movies. Though it is still one of the biggest Blockbusters of all-time, even bigger than DDLJ and 3 Idiots. Despite that, Gadar is not considered as a masterpiece.
The reason is that, Gadar is a chest-pumping movie, which can only be enjoyed on a big-screen , that too on a crowded theatre. The movie is not same, without all the hooting and whistling by the crowd.
When Gadar was released, there was an unbelievable craze around the movie, which we never saw again, until Baahubali happened. Now I'm not saying that Baahubali is similar to Gadar. No, it's not!!! But Baahubali is also a movie which can only be enjoyed on a big screen, isn't it??
The action scenes, the grandeur, the special effects and the vfx, everything should be watched on a big screen, if you want to enjoy the movie. It's a larger than life movie, just like Gadar. You'll not find Baahubali special, if you watch it on television or laptop.
The present generation doesn't likes Gadar. They most likely cringe seeing a shouting and screeching Sunny Deol. So I wonder if people of the future generation will like Baahubali?? Because ofcourse there will be movies with better special effects and vfx in upcoming years.
Forget the future generation, the people who love Baahubali now, will they like to watch the movie after like 10 years??
Long story short, I want to know whether Baahubali will stand the test of time?? Will people call it a classic movie after 20 years, like DDLJ and HAHK, or whether it'll be forgotten like Gadar??
BTW, I'm not a fan of any of two movies, but nonetheless Baahubali still a path-breaking movie, which raised raised the standards of Indian cinema in terms of technology.
I guess Baahubali lovers can give the best answer.
