Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is one show that truly reinvents itself nicely whenever it sees a slump in the ratings. The show first went on air in December 2017 and now it is almost four years. Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel's emotional family drama was a TRP Topper for the first couple of years but then the ratings saw a slide. However, the makers quickly went into damage control mode and introduced a new story line that focused on the kids. When even that got a bit boring, they introduced another leap - this time in the scenic locales of Australia. However, it is the Budapest track that is now getting all attention where Ishita is trying to put the Bhalla family back on track. So,what has YHM done so successfully over the years? Here is a quick insight...

Contemporary show

It might not be a very modern show in terms of costumes or sets, but Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has taken up topics that many makers would shield away from showing. It is a modern family. From surrogacy to remarriage in later life, cyber crime and sexual abuse of children, it has addressed real issues that exist in homes. The treatment may be debatable but the fact that they are raised is to be appreciated.

Freshness

The maximum drama takes place in the Bhalla household and in and around Delhi. However, whenever things get stale, the makers infuse some freshness by taking the story ahead in a new locale. We saw the response that the Australia and now Budapest tracks are getting from the audience. They change the packaging really well to get back the viewers' attention. Also, they promote such tracks really well.

Layered protagonists

Except Ishita, all the other characters in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein have been grey. The latest is that of Simmi (Shireen Mirza) who is out to avenge the death of her daughter Ananya from the Bhallas as she feels that Ishita killed her. Even the children, Aadi (Abhishek Verma) and Ruhi (Aditi Bhatia) change as per situations. The shock value associated with the characters is tremendous.

If you feel that YHM re-invents itself really well do let us know with your comments. Stay tuned to BL for more scoop and updates...
