Kalgiakka paused. She thought she heard footsteps.

Silence. Kalgiakka resumed her walk back to her farmhouse.

Tap. Tap.

She heard the sound again. Nobody was going to dare mess with her again tonight. She swung around and punched straight into the air. It amazed her how bang she was on target. She had sent a man hurling to the other side.

"Uhh! Help!" He groaned.

Kalgiakka was tempted to walk on but paused for a while till he got back on foot.

"Why were you following me sir?" She demanded.

"Sorry ma'am. I am a stranger to Parnagarh and am visiting the haveli for the first time. I waa given directions at the next village, but somehow lost the way. When i saw you i thought i could seek your help. But was quite unsure if it would be right to approach you in such dark. " His cultured tone and sauve manners softened Kalgiakka and she was back in her spirits.

"You should have asked me straightaway. I am quite popular among my friends for finding things. I would have helped you find your way too." She beamed. "It is quite late and you cannot make it to the haveli tonight. There is an inn on the way. You could stay there tonight and reach the haveli in the morning"

A few steps ahead, the pathway forked. "Follow this path. You will reach the inn. Goodnight Sir" Kalgiakka took her path to her home smiling. She just remembered that she hadn't asked the stranger's name.

At the mansion

Lana wanted to get to bed early. She had a lot to dream about. As she got up to leave, the housekeeper announced a visitor.

"Who could it be so late. " Lana's eyes fell on Kalgiakka's purse. "I could've sent it in the morning. Why did she have to come back so late" As she entered the study, she was surprised to see Azeez.

"Azeez! What are you doing here at this time of the night? I saw you with your girl in the boat sometime back!"

"I was. And i saw you upset. Just thought these would cheer you." Azeez brought out the pouch of Jasmines. "

Lana was touched. She recieved the fragrant pouch with the little sincere note

'Wish you smiles' -Azeez Shah!

"I am so blessed to have friends like you" whispered Lana with a radiant smile, also remembering Kalgiakka as she said so.

"Good night" Azeez left with content seeing Lana cheerful again.

Next day morning

Kalgiakka was amazed to see her friend in such spirits. She wondered what happened that transformed her to her usual self last night.

"I was just about to send your purse. Good that you came yourself. I am leaving out of town for a week this evening. On a business trip. I can say goodbye and do wish me luck and joy"

"Luck and Joy!" Kalgiakka's eyes fell on the jasmine pouch and the note. The clouds of doubt cleared instantly. "Is HE too coming along? Is that why my Lana is so happy"

"He may not be mine forever. But this week is going to give me my best mories, i'm sure. "

Later that evening

Kalgiakka and Lana arrived at the haveli. Khan Sahib, Azeez and Sayyid were in a serious discussion at a distance.

"There he is" said Lana with unadultered admiration and joy.

Kalgiakka saw Azeez and Lana and thought to herself, " He shall be yours forever my friend."
