between Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmini.
Rajput Karni Sena members have been
threating the filmmaker from a while now
that they will burn the theatres if they
release the film. Yesterday, at the 3D trailer
launch of film, a mob of Rajput Mahamorcha
made their way outside the theatre in
Andheri, Mumbai. A leading tabloid reports
that it was a 100-member squad outside the
theatre, but when PINKVILLA asked the cops
present there, they said that only a few
people were seen outside the multiplex and
not a mob.
"We don't want the trailer to be launched,"
Ajay Sanger, leader of the organisation, is
believed to have said while he distributed
pamphlets. He stated that filmmaker Sanjay
Leela Bhansali is distorting history and is
"hurting the sentiments of Hindus by
showing Rani Padmavati as the object of
Alauddin Khilji's affections."
Speaking to a leading tabloid, Sanger said,
"We won't allow the film's release till
Bhansali shows it to us. We damaged the
Kolhapur set and that was just a warning.
We will burn down theatres if the film is
released. If anyone gets injured or dies, the
government will be held responsible."
He added that they will be meeting Chief
Minister Devendra Fadnavis. "We want him
to take charge of the matter. It is high time
Bhansali came out in the open and took a
decision on the subject," said Sanger.
