Sharanya's Connection, Vyom's Devotion, Shiv's Presence

It's rare for a week old show to hook me the way EDT has. My main reason for giving this a shot was because I have liked both the male actors' work in their previous shows last year and I wanted to see what they would bring next. But I am not the kind who can stick to a show just for the cast and like has happened so many times in the past with other actors I have admired, I quickly lose interest in their subsequent works. However, EDT has really managed to hold my interest for the week and actually make me look forward to Monday.

The aspects which has really stood out for me is the way the narrative has emphasised on the character elements mentioned in the title of this post.

It's all in the Heart: This is what Sharanya is telling everyone who is confused as to why she is not drawn to someone like Vyom and how she could forget their entire love story. Unlike her initial outburst in the hospital, Sharanya is now kinder to Vyom's presence around her and in her family. But while he is visibly a nice person, she just doesn't feel the connection, the attraction or even the interest she should have towards someone she apparently loves so much. In fact what really stands out is how she seems mildly repulsed to the idea of a romantic relationship with him. Is this only because her heart refuses to believe that they were once lovers? Or is something subconsciously preventing her from moving forward with him?

A Thousand Times Over: Vyom's demeanor is nothing short of unsettling. But amongst all the apprehensions regarding the truth to his story, one thing we cannot doubt is his commitment towards Sharanya. Call it love or call it obsession but he is someone who has been around the family of a comatose girl, waiting years for her to wake up and believing that she would so one day. It's hard not to root for a character like that despite the shadiness. It has been said that no character is outright negative so I am waiting to see if whatever Vyom has been hiding can justify his character as one the audience can sympathise with.

In Life and In Death: We don't know anything about Shiv. The two lines at the end of each episode gives us an insight into some of his thoughts. We don't know where those thoughts have come from. Here and there, we have been given 'wink and miss' glimpses of him. But where he really weighed as heavy as those we could see on screen was his constant presence as an undercurrent in the scenes. This may sound strange but every Vyom and/or Sharanya scene which I saw, together or separately, I felt like I was seeing from Shiv's eyes. Like the lens of the camera were the eyes of this man who has left the mortal life yet returned from the heavens above for reasons we can only guess right now.

Fantastic review. I'm actually so impressed by this show. It is nothing like the way I imagined. When I saw the promos for the show, I thought "Okay! A show about a much in love couple who are haunted by a ghost and is trying to separate them...seen it tons of times", then I see the show, where in reality, things are nothing along the lines of an in-love couple being haunted by a ghost, a lot of the characters seem shady, and there is a confusion on whom the real villain is, because at face value, we see a ghost that is out to kill the girl, but also cares about her, with hints that he and the girl were in love. Then there are hints that the devoted and very-much human lover of the girl is cooking up stories, as well as hints that the guy's father is perhaps involved in the death of the ghost. An intriguing story indeed.

I know exactly what you mean! Like I mentioned in my original post, I really thought that though I am giving this a shot because of Vikram and Namik, I will lose interest fast. But it is actually quite different from what I imagined and I am actually intrigued. It's hard to draw conclusions as to who has really been wronged in the last few years.

True. Shiv has definitely come back for something (or someone) he left behind. Really curious to see more of him and who he was as a human.

It's a Wonderful Deewaana's love story (Vyom) according to what we saw in Story uptil now.
We never saw Ghost haunting the Couple. In Promo, bits and pieces have been attached. Namik always used to say don't take everything that is shown on a Promo and not to take everything at Face Value.
I don't think Ghost is killing Sharanya but I think Sharanya has something related to her Mind that she is going through where she feels somebody is following & she is having some illusions/figures because we hear these kinds of stories in Real world also, it is related to some Mental Weaknesses/Issues. No Doubt, the Figure is trying to help Sharanya but she is Scared because of the Situations she is placed in. It is somewhat like the Character Kamal Hassan played in "Thenali" Movie.

I don't think neither Girl is cooking up stories nor Guy's father is involved in anybody's death.
