This is a short story which starts from the time the misunderstandings between Naina and Sameer are over and they start a new phase of their friendship...yeah...just friendship...which is just another step for Sameer in the direction of winning the bet ...this is just an imaginary piece of writing as to what would happen now that Sameer is playing Romeo and Juliet's role is being played by Swati...all thanks to Naina refusing to play Juliet. Here it goes...
Naina was fidgeting with her fingers and just moving to and fro in her room...as usual talking to herself...
Naina: kya karu...kya karu...kuch soch Naina...kuch soch...tera sapna tha Juliet ka role...aur tune us role ko karne se mana kar diya...kya zaroorat thi tujhe mana karne ki...ab Swati banegi Juliet tere Romeo ke saath aur tu side mein baithkar bas un dono ko dekhna...yehi chahti hai tu...na baba na...yeh main kaise chah sakti hu...par ab main karu to kya karu? Swati ko kaise bolu kit u mana kar de is role ke liye...aisa main kaisa kar sakti hu...nahi nahi...yeh to uske saath theek nahi hoga...ek taraf Swati ki dosti aur doosri taraf Sameer...main karu to kya karu...kuch samajh nahi aa raha...
She was so confused as she wanted to play the role of Juliet and on the other hand she didn't want to take away Swati's happiness also...Preeti came to the room and saw Naina talking to herself...
Preeti: arey Naina tu yeh kya kar rahi hai? idhar se udhar...hua kya hai...
Naina: wo Juliet Romeo ko lekar ud jayegi...
Preeti: Romeo...Juliet...kaun kise lekar ud jayega...tu kya bol rahi hai?
Naina came slightly to her senses and realised what she was speaking...and then tried to divert the topic...
Naina: kuch nahi...wo...wo bas aise hi...wo play mein ek scene hai jisme Romeo Juliet ko lekar ud jata hai...ek dream sequence hai...to usi ke baare mein soch rahi thi...
Preeti: par tu kyun soch rahi thi...tu thodi na Juliet hai...jo hai wo kar lenge na...
Naina: wo Lochan Sir ne kaha hai ki mujhe us scene ke liye kuch setup sochna hai...wo chahte hain ki main unki madad karu...to bas isliye...(she stammered as usual when she lies to anyone)
Preeti: oh...achha...tu sochti reh...theek hai...main to in sab se door hi rehti hu...hey Naina agar Juliet ka hairstyling karne ke liye meri zaroorat ho to zaroor batana...theek hai...
Naina: haan haan bata dungi...tu apna kaam kar aur mujhe sochne de...
Somehow she managed to change the topic and felt relieved but inside her heart she really wanted to play Juliet and she couldn't think of any way out. Next morning in class Sameer threw a crushed paper ball towards her...but it fell down on the floor...Naina saw it and then towards Sameer...he signalled her to pick it up and read it...she hesitantly bent down and picked it up. The teacher asked if everything was alright and whether Sameer was disturbing her...she replied that her pen had fallen down and that all was well. The teacher turned back towards the black board and Naina opened the paper ball and read what was written on it...Sameer had written...
Naina mujhe tumse baat karni hai...mujhe lunch break mein water tap ke paas jo ped hai wahan milo'
Naina signalled a yes to him and kept on thinking what he wanted to talk to her in isolation? Swati noticed Naina sharing glances with Sameer and asked her what is the matter but Naina didn't tell her anything. During the lunch break Naina escaped everyones' eyes and went to meet Sameer at the place he mentioned. She found him already waiting for her there with his friends...as he saw her coming he asked Munna and Pandit to leave from there. Naina became anxious to see his friends going away from there but she somehow gathered courage to still go and talk to him.
Naina: Sameer tumne mujhe kyun bulaya? Kya baat karna chahte the tum?
Sameer: haan wo Naina main kehna chahta tha ki tumne Juliet ke role ke liye kyun mana kar diya? Main us Swati ke saath Romeo ka role nahi karunga...tum kuch bhi karke Juliet ke role ke liye haan kar do...bas...main bas tumhe apni Juliet ki tarah dekhna chahta hu
Naina: Sameer...wo main...aisa nahi kar sakti...Swati bahut khush hai us role ke liye...main use mana nahi kar sakti...wo kya sochegi...pehle maine hi mana kiya aur ab main hi...nahi nahi...main aisa nahi kar sakti...
Sameer: par main use apni Juliet ki tarah nahi dekh pata...
Naina: mujhe maaf kar do Sameer...par main aisa nahi kar sakti...
She said and she went away from there...Sameer's friends came there when she left and Sameer told them that she refused to take up the role. Both of them were disappointed and expressed their concern that his every attempt to win the bet is failing till now and imagined how would he look without his Salman Khan style hair. Sameer too was upset as Naina refused straight away to play the role of Juliet. Swati who had followed Naina secretly when she was going to meet Sameer heard their talks and realised that Naina was refusing for the role for her sake and Sameer too wanted her to play the role. When Naina left from there, she too left and came back to the class and sat on her seat before Naina could realise that she had overheard their conversation.
But she couldn't believe herself what she just saw and heard...all her dreams of becoming Sameer's Juliet vanished away in a flash...till now she was thinking that Sameer liked him. But now she came to know that he liked Naina and not her and she was coming in between the two. She cursed herself for not being a true friend to Naina...she decided that she won't come between Naina and Sameer now and she would do anything to give away that role to Naina. The bells rang which signalled the end of class period and now it was time for the rehearsals.
Sameer along with his friends, Naina, Swati and some other students moved to the rehearsal room. Both Sameer and swati started rehearsing their respective dialogues...but today Swati deliberately didn't enact her part properly...Lochan Sir kept on giving them repeated takes but Swati didn't improve today. Naina was surprised as to what had happened to Swati today?
Lochan Sir: arey Swati aaj kya hua hai tumhe...dhyan kahan hai tumhara...theek se kyun nahi karti tum?
Naina: haan Swati...kya baat hai? itna aasan to hai...dekh aise kar tu...
Naina enacted the scene in front of Swati so that she can understand the feelings and emotions involved in that particular part. Lochan Sir was very impressed with the way Naina did it and asked Swati to follow her.
Swati: nahi Sir...yeh sab mujhse nahi hoga...Naina kitna achha kar rahi hai...aap yeh role ise hi de do na...mujhe nahi karna yeh Juliet ka role...
Naina, Sameer, Lochan Sir and everyone there was shocked to hear this...Naina tried to convince her that she will be able to do it if she practices, but Swati told her that this role wasn't her cup of tea and that she won't be able to do it...Naina will be perfect for this role and she deserved to do it. She said this and left from there and Lochan sir gave this role to Naina and packed up the rehearsal for today and asked her to come prepared the next day.
Naina went out searching for Swati as the school had ended for today and found her sitting alone in an isolated place. She was sobbing and Naina came and sat close to her and offered her handkerchief to her to wipe her tears.
Naina: kya baat hai swati...aaj kya ho gaya tujhe? Tu itna achha karti thi...aaj achanak kya ho gaya?
Sawti: kuch nahi hua mujhe...aur kuch hua bhi...to tujhe kyun bataaun?
Naina: matlab...tujhe kyun bataaun se kya matlab? Ab tu mujhe nahi batayegi?
Swati: ab tu bhi to mujhe kuch nahi batati...
Naina: maine tujhe kya nahi batati?
Swati told her that she had overheard their conversation during the lunch break and that she would have felt happy if Naina herself had told her everything...Naina felt so overwhelmed to know this and confessed that she didn't tell her anything as she didn't want her to feel bad. She knew that this role was equally important for her and she had worked so hard to get this character right. Swati being her true friend told her that this role wasn't more important than Naina and her friendship. She loves her friend a lot and would be the happiest if Naina would play the role of Juliet. Naina hugged her friend tightly and both of them had tears in their eyes. Both of them wiped each others tears and Swati started singing in order to make the mood lighter...
yeh dosti hum nahi todenge...todenge dum magar tera saath na chhodenge...'
Flashback ends...
Naina and Swati are sitting in a restaurant with both of them holding hands and its been so many years that the school ended. Naina has become a writer and she got married to Sameer and Swati has become a famous actress now. Both of them are very busy in their lives but still are in touch each other through phone and facebook.
Naina: kitne saal beet gaye Swati...aaj bhi wo din yaad aate hain...kaise tune mere liye wo role chhoda tha...aur aaj dekh...itni badi actress ban gayi hai...tujhe humesha se acting achhi lagti thi na...
Swati: haan par us waqt mujhe kahan pata tha ki aage chalke teri Sameer se hi shaadi ho jayegi...kitni mushkil se hui tumhari shaadi...haina...
Naina: haan yaar...bahut mushkil se...par ab sab theek hai...Sameer bahut badal gaya hai...aur mujhse bahut pyar karta hai... aur mere ghar waalon ne bhi use accept kar liya hai...
Swati: yeh to bahut achhi baat hai...par Sameer hai kahan? Aane wala tha...
Naina: haan bas aata hi hoga...apne business aur apne music school mein busy rehta hai...bachhon ko guitar sikhata hai weekends par...
Just then Sameer entered there and met Swati...all three of them enjoyed the rest of the evening together...really some friends are your true friends...they are there for you any and everytime...some friendships last forever... 😃
