Omkara removed his turban with a sigh. He did not even last a day. Obviously it was such a pathetic cover that he was surprised she did not recognise him sooner. While Gauri stood there glaring at him. He just shook his head at himself cursing himself while avoiding looking at her.
Gauri's temper was rising every moment as the silence stretched. The only time he said something was when he had to hurl more accusations at her. Now when he should actually speak and apologise which she was hoping he was here to do he was quiet!
'Mujhe maaf kardo.' He said understanding her silent wrath.
'Maafi nahi chaheeye hume wajah chaheeye. Humne itna kuch kia aapke liye fir kyo baar baar aap hum par shaq karte hai? Aapko maza aata hai hume dard dene meh?' She asked sitting down on the bed with a defeated look on her face
He silently sat down on the floor in front of her with a sigh. Looking into her eyes he started narrating a tale that was his life and needless to say Gauri was an attentive listener.
He talked about his miserable childhood but did not forget mentioning the relief that were his brothers. He talked about his disbelief at his father's actions but did not forget mentioning his constant believe in love. He mentioned about his various failed relationships but did not forget mentioning his devotion to his mother.
In the end he told her about the thing that finally broke him. He told her about the day he sold himself to save his mother and he told her how he killed himself in the process.
'Jab mai tumse mila mai Omkara nahi tha. Ek hara hua insan tha jo shayad apni family ko chodhkar iss duniya ke har insan se nafrat kar raha tha. Jo iss puri duniya ko apni bebasi ke lie blame kar raha tha. Mai koi safai nahi dera Gauri kyoki gunah toh gunah hota hai aur gunah ki koi safaai nahi hoti.'
'Mai janta hu tum kahogi ki mere paas itna waqt tha tumhe samajhne ke lie tumpe bharosa karne ke lie fir kyo nahi kiya. Kyoki mai Riddhima ko 5 saal se janta tha Gauri aur Mr Oberoi ko apni puri zindagi jab unhone mera vishwas tod dia toh mai tumse kisi aur cheez ki umeed kyo karta?'
Gauri looked at him in despair desperately trying to forgive him. She bent a little forward lightly kissing him on his forehead.Omkara looked up a little more and the both shifted as their lips came closer.
Suddenly images flashed in front of Gauri's eyes. Images where his hand was on her waist, his mouth near her ears and then his words rang in her mind 'kaisa lagra hai? Ya uss Arjun ke sath zyada maza aara tha tumhe?' And she sprang apart horrified.
Omkara looked up surprised but seeing her tortured eyes instantly understood her fear. She was afraid he would manipulate her into feeling things again and then break her apart just like before.
He dropped back crossing his arms around his knees feeling defeated and said what he was wondering all this while ' kya tum mujhe kabhi maaf kar paaogi?'
She looked at him and he looked right back urging her to answer honestly.
'Kya aap kabhi hum par viswas kar payenge?' She replied with her own doubt.
They both realised they had a long way to go. It was difficult for both of them to do what the other wanted but then they will do it because they love each other and sometimes that is all it takes to stay together forever.
Gauri stood up and sat down on the floor besides him. Omkara took her hand in his silently promising her to try trusting her with all heart and she squeezed his hand telling him she understood and that she will try to forgive him to!
