So the first posters of Padmavati are out, and the makers have chosen the first day of the Navaratri festival to launch the same. This is what director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has to say about choosing this day for the poster, "I'm happy to bring the story of Padmavati' to the screen. It was a fitting date for us to launch the first look of the film and celebrate this auspicious occasion. So yeah, the posters are out and it shows Deepika at her regal best attired in the finest embroidery and jewellery. If you are wondering why Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are not there in the posters, it's because Deepika is Padmavati (or Rani Padmini) and quite obviously, the first poster has to be about her. However, the poster is not just about showing Deepika's look in the movie; it also reveals a lot about the movie too.

Here are five clues about the movie and Deepika's character that you many have overlooked in the posters.

Rani Padmini is a Shiv bhakt

As seen above, you can see trishuls in the background which means that Rani Padmini was a true Shiv bhakt and she needed his blessings for a very crucial decision. We will get to know what that decision was later...

Deepika's unibrow

When the posters came out, some Twitter users were making fun of Deepika's unibrow in the poster. But that unibrow is Deepika sticking to the character, because even Rani Padmini had a unibrow as seen in the above painting of hers.

The Goddess Queen

If you are curious about the tagline in the poster, there is a legend behind that. As per one of the tales, when Khilji attacked Chittor and they had already lost their king, the ministers of Chittor were wondering what's the next course of action. While all this was happening Padmavati was praying to Lord Shiva. With his blessings, the queen appeared before the ministers as a goddess, and demanded a blood sacrifice from them, which we are discussing below. Till today, many of the Rajput clans consider her as a Goddess for that blood sacrifice.

The posters are about the jauhar

The poster in the right showed Deepika in her bridal attire as well as many women in the background also dressed similarly. If you observe closely, you can see they have flaming torches in their hands. Which mean they are are on the brink of committing jauhar, the dreary tradition of self-immolation Rajput women undertook in those days, instead of getting captured by the enemy. This was the blood sacrifice that Padmini told her ministers they need to win the war.

So is that climax?

Since the poster to the left had Deepika invoking Lord Shiva's blessings and to the right has her getting ready for jauhar, we may be looking at the climax of the movie. So that means Shahid Kapoor's character, Raja Ratan Singh is already dead and we are looking at the preparation of another tragic ending here.

Padmavati is based on the legend of Rani Padmini, married to Raja Ratan Singh of Chittor (played by Shahid Kapoor). Her fabled beauty reached the ears of the ruthless Delhi emperor Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), who killed Ratan Singh in a battle and captured Chittor to gain her. But before that could happen she and many of the Rajput women committed self-immolation and thus attained immortality with her act.
