Chapter 36 Khushi at Master Chef Event!
"Khushi, look at me... You look beautiful in this red sari just like I thought..." Arnav complimented her and cheered her up...
"Are you sure about all this?" Khushi asked him...
"Yes, I am... Now think about all the moments you and your Babuji spent thinking about Master Chef and just do it..." Arnav ordered her...
Khushi looked at him speechless...
"Give me 5 minutes, I will come down..." Khushi went to use bathroom...
"So you had to dig the shows video to trust your own wife, seriously?" Anjali mocked Arnav as soon as he came down...
"Di, what made you think I don't trust Khushi?" Arnav counter questioned...
"Then?" Anjali was confused and waited for him to explain...
"Di, Khushi is so nave but I have to make sure someone is not misusing her name for fame or malign her... Also it's my responsibility to protect her..." Arnav assured his Di...
"Luckily it turned out to be paparazzi churned fabricated story and nothing beyond it..." Arnav said with a relief on his face...
"Arnav is absolutely behaving normal and no longer angry... He is talking as if I am going to love his surprise so it may not be the contract marriage or divorce papers... Maye I should not assume things and talk to him as soon as the show is finished... Till then I am busy, but after that I will ask him everything on his face just like last time... He needs to know how upset I am for the contract... But do I even belong here if our marriage is already over as per the contract? Hey Devi Mayya, you only help me stay calm for next two days for the Master Chef... Even Arnav wants me to participate wholeheartedly and do my best..." Khushi sat on the edge of the bed thinking, calmed herself down and stepped out for her competition...
"Babuji, thank you so much... Please reach on time with Amma..". Khushi hopped next to Arnav as soon as she finished talking to her Babuji...
"All set?" Arnav asked her...
"Yeah kind of... Khushi still felt a little nervousness...
"Don't worry, we will be there... All the best, do well and stay focused" Arnav kissed her on her forehead and wished her luck...
Arnav came very close to her and was almost ready to kiss her when she stepped back...
"Ok, go now..." Arnav was a little disappointed with her shy behavior but sent her to the studio and drove back to office...
As expected it was big preparation going on. Last 5 finalist Khushi, Simran, Pooja, Kumar and Nirav were all ready for the final battle...
Mrs. Dalal was present too. Vikas and Ankit were also present along with other two judges...
By 6 pm, the studio was already packed... The media was also present and set their cameras... Suddenly there was lots of noise about ASR, the great Arnav Singh Raizada walking in to watch the show...
The show producers were surprised and welcomed him to the show... Mrs. Dalal and Arnav's mom had been friends for years in Lucknow so she knew Arnav personally...
The judges requested ASR to sit with them on the stage while family sat together in viewers front rows...
It was supposed to be battle of veggie preparations! All veg menu, which Khushi loved... Khushi chose lettuce wraps with avocado and sprouts dipped in tangy, spicy sauce and Dum Aloo chops as a starter to bring up the notch... For main course she made Arnav's mom's Rajasthan style spinach Daal, crunchy mix veg and mild cottage cheese prepared in red sauce... She combined three types of rotis... For dessert she kept it very simple, mango souffl with tinch of fresh strawberries, nuts and her famous coffee bites... She really knew how to coffee flavors to enhance her desserts... She presented it so well, it looked like yellow and pink colored flowers with brown leaves...
Khushi felt distracted at times, but always looked at her family for supported to compose herself... And Arnav was sitting right in the front with judges and his eyes were darted on her supporting her, showing so much affection... She knew she has to do her best for her father and him!
Overall she was excited with her choices of dishes and combinations. She kept ample time for presentation and presented all her dishes so well...
Obviously thanks to Arnav, she was the only one who got a chance to work under international Chef like Alan and practice daily at Oberoi... So her presentation was top notch and won brownie points for her...
Even the other four contestants were very good and especially Nirav was very close to Khushi when it came to presentations... It was almost neck to neck competition between them...
Round one was won by Nirav. They loved his mushroom tika and cottage cheese rolls and Khushi was close second... Khushi won the main course round hands down... And the final round Khushi and Pooja scored top points making Khushi win two rounds and the overall battle...
In total points, Khushi became number 1 and Nirav 2 and so they both would get an opportunity to battle against Mrs. Dalal the very next day!
There was so much excitement and shouts around them... Khushi and Nirav were super excited...
The media was also covering every aspect of the show and got to taste the food as well... All the Chefs took a break before they address media and express their feelings about the show and experience...
Khushi rushed to her family and hugged everyone... She was super excited to win against all Chefs and now she and Nirav would battle further with Mrs. Dalal next day...
"Congratulations Khushi, you nailed it..." Anjali hugged Khushi tight...
"So tomorrow you will be having the gala time in Agra... Cooking in open air behind Taj Mahal live would be a unique experience... I am so happy for you... It will the best Saturday Night Live of our lives!" Anjali was more excited than Khushi...
"Yeah Di, I am so looking forward to it..." Khushi replied jumping like a kid...
"Khushi they are calling all of us to talk with media..." Simran called Khushi and Khushi rushed back...
All the 5 contestants were sitting facing the reporters and the judges were still standing on the sides mingling, it was pretty casual environment by now and the tension of competition has subsided by now...
Needless to say Khushi was center of attention since she won against all the chefs and now major contestant to battle against Mrs. Dalal.
"So Khushi, did preparing under Chef Alan help?" One of the reporters asked her...
"Yes of course big time... Working at Oberoi and serving elite customers every single day was a huge opportunity... Every single day, seeing how dishes are prepared, presented and served by best chefs, is very exciting... I learned a lot and it came in handy today... Coach Alan and his team are phenomenal cooks" Khushi boasted about her experience at Oberoi...
"So did Ankit get you the opportunity to work at Oberoi? We have seen him often alone or with friends visiting Oberoi regularly" Another reporter asked...
For a minute Khushi felt the questions was going in the direction, she would not want... But then she decided to handle it very carefully and respectfully...
"No, Ankit has nothing to do with me working at Oberoi... Someone else helped me and I give all the credit to him for not only helping me get to work at Oberoi but also the state of the art kitchen built at home for me to practice my skills... And of course my family helped me a lot too... And you all know my father own a sweet shop and cooking runs in my DNA..." Khushi kept the answer straight forward and to the point...
"It has to be Ankit Khanna... Who else can know such an elite seven star Chef Alan? You have always been Ankit's favorite... Is there something brewing between you?" Obviously reporter would not miss the opportunity to put Khushi on the spot and ask her personal questions...
Ankit heard the question and felt the need to step in... Even Arnav had enough and he decided it's high time he handles the situation once and for all...
Ankit and Arnav both started walking towards Khushi... Ankit was few steps ahead of Arnav... When Khushi saw them walking towards her, she raised her hand and asked them to stop... She already made up her mind to address media and answer them properly...
"I am aware that media has been trying to cook up a story and link me with Ankit... But it's just a fake story because Ankit and I are just friends due to this show... Whenever we have interacted, we always did as part of the show and nothing more... We have never met or interacted at personal levels... So you can come up with all kinds of stories you want but it won't change the truth... I am sure you have better questions related to the show than someone's personal life... And with that I would like to wrap up and join my family to enjoy these moments and our success... I will not like media to divert attention to wrong things when we all have worked so hard for this show and it has been a wonderful journey..." Khushi got up from her seat with her head held high and walked towards her Babuji...
Arnav was surprised how she learnt to handle media with clear answers without anyone else's help... He felt sorry for not standing up for her before when first time she faced the media wrath... Why was he feeling bad when she didn't need him today and managed the media so well...?
Media reporters were asked to leave the premises soon after and they dispersed...
He remembered how nave and scared she had looked during the past fiasco and immediately he regretted putting her into this situation...
It was already very late and Arnav just wanted to steal Khushi from everyone and take her with him... His Di, Nani and NK already knew about his plans to propose her and they were all excited about it...
"Khushi, where do you think you are going?" Arnav asked her surprised seeing her going towards the other car which was supposed to drop her parents...
"Oh, I was planning to go with Babuji tonight... I have been just so exhausted with this Master Chef preparations and never got to spend any time with them for a while..." Khushi explained him with a straight face...
"No way Khushi, not today... I have some plans for us..." Arnav tried to convince her... He wasn't convinced that she was missing her parents and hence wanted to go with them... He somewhere felt like she avoided him...
"Please Arnav, I beg you... I really want to be with my Babuji and Amma today..." And she hopped inside the car before he could say anything further... He could see her closing eyes and sleeping on her mom's shoulder...
"Ok then..." He whispered to himself while watching Khushi go away from him...
