Part 8A:

Mehak wanted Shaurya to prove his love to her but Shaurya had other plans. These last few days were too stressful for him professionally as well as personally; personally more because a certain Ms. Sharma had invaded his thoughts and wouldn't leave him alone in peace.

All that had happened in the last two days had made him smile. He just couldn't believe that he confessed his love to Mehak and she agreed, sort of. He was busy in his thoughts when his cell rang. Shaurya looked at the caller id and his smile broadened seeing the name.

Shaurya smilingly: Yes Maa.

Karuna Maa: Wow..You seem to be in a happy mood Shaurie.

Shaurya smiling: And what makes you think so Maa?

Karuna Maa: Well, firstly I am your mother so I know when my child is happy and secondly, I could feel your smile here...Its makes me smile too!! Looks like the perfect opportunity to talk to you about something very important.

Shaurya was tensed when his mother said she wanted to talk something important. That always worried him.

Shaurya: Ok and what is that something important'?

Karuna Maa: I want you to get married and I have chosen the right girl for you. She is my friend Savita's daughter Aashima. So will you meet her?

Karauna Maa said everything without taking a pause. She didn't want Shaurya to interrupt her and come up wuth any excuse. Shaurya knew that something important' his mother wanted to talk about was his marriage. In fact, ever since he had told her that he was looking after the catering arrangements of the Jindals wedding, she subconsciously was thinking about his wedding.

The long pause told Karuna that Shaurya was thinking of an excuse like always to evade this topic. She was prepared for this but this time she was adamant.

Karuna Maa sternly: Shaurya, I don't want you to come up with any excuse now. I am honestly tired of all that, please. You better agree to this. I am not asking you to get married to Aashima. I just want you to meet her once. That's it!

Shaurya smiled: Maa, please relax. I am not making any excuse. In fact, I wanted to talk to you about my marriage. Like you said mothers know everything; you just happen to call me at the right time!

Karuna couldn't believe her ears when Shaurya said that he wanted to talk about his marriage.

Karuna Maa: I hope you are not pulling a prank on me Shaurie coz if you are, then I would jus...

Shaurya: Maa, please breathe and no it's not a prank I am serious. I love someone and I want to marry her.

Karuna Maa: Really Shaurie? Then I am very glad. Who is that girl and when are you going to introduce me to her?

Karuna couldn't contain her excitement over this but Shaurya needed time since he hadn't asked Mehak whether she wanted to marry him. He had to ask her first and then he would tell his mother about it.

Shaurya: Maa, I will please give me some time. I will tell you everything about her once I come to Delhi but please not now.

Karuna Maa: And why is that? OK fine. If you cannot tell me now, then please me tell me her name atleast?

Shaurya smilingly: No I won't tell you her name. Please Maa, aake sab bataunga. Please have some patience and I want to see your face when I would tell you who my lady love is.

Shaurya was enjoying teasing his mother. He knew she was irked but he honestly wanted to see her happiness when he would tell her about Mehak. She had always adored her as a daughter.

Karuna Maa feigning anger: I had been patient for 2 years Shaurie so you better not talk about patience. Anyways, if you cant tell me her name, I will find it by myself. Just answer me, is she someone I know?

Shaurya knew his mother was one curious soul. He was willing to play along if this was the way she wanted.

Shaurya: Yes, you know her.

Karuna Maa: Ok, is she at the wedding now?

Shaurya laughed: Yes Maa, this girl I love is here at the wedding. No more questions now, I gotta go. Bye, love you Maa.

Karuna desperately wanted to know who the girl was but she also knew her stubborn son. He wouldn't give away her name so easily. Smilingly, she bid him bye and hung up.

Shaurya laughed and hung up too. He was about to leave for his room when Neera, the bride's cousin, called his name. Shaurya stopped at the sound of his name and turned to find Neera signaling him that she wanted to talk to him.

Shaurya walked towards her.

Shaurya: Yes Ms. Arora, how may I help you?

Neera: Oh please call me Neera. Ms. Arora sounds too formal Shaurya.

Shaurya cocked an eyebrow at her. He didn't like when girls would try to act too friendly with him.

Neera smilingly: Shaurya, I need your help. Its di's bachelorette party tomorrow and we have a problem. Singer Shane cancelled the event at the last minute as he had to attend his actor friend's party in Udaipur. Raisha di is a huge fan of Shane and I had promised her that he would come for the party. She will be really disappointed if he doesn't turn up.

Shaurya inquisitively: And how do I fit into all this?

Neera: I know Shane is your friend. Everyone knows you both studied in the same college and are good friends too. Please can you request him to come for the wedding Shaurya. Only for an hour, that's it..Please Shaurya!! I don't want to see Di upset. I could have asked Dad but he is already looking after a lot of things with chachu at the wedding so I didn't want to bother him.

Shaurya heard her patiently and answered: I will ask him if we can come but I cannot promise you anything. I don't plead to anyone. I will ask him once if he agrees, good and if he doesn't, I don't care a damn. OK?

Neera happily: Yup fair enough.

Shaurya took his phone from his pocket and dialed Shane's number. Shaurya was talking to Shane while Neera looked at him expectantly hoping for a positive response from the singer.

Shaurya ended the call and said: Shane agreed but only for half an hour. You can coordinate with his manager for the exact time.

Neera in her excitement hugged Shaurya tightly: Thank you so much Shaurya. You are simply awesome!! I lov...

Shaurya stiffened when she hugged him suddenly. He kept his hands at her shoulders and pulled her away.

Shaurya: Behave Ms. Arora.

Neera sheepishly: Sorry Shaurya...Thank you once again!

She didn't want to embarrass herself further so she left avoiding any eye contact with him. Shaurya adjusted his suit and walked towards his room.

This entire scene was witnessed by Sonia Rathod, a Page 3 journalist for a leading newspaper in the country. A lot of reporters were attending the Jindals wedding to cover the event since it was touted as the wedding of the year between two extremely famous business families.

The reporters were here not only to cover the event but also to look for any gossips to publish in their paper and Sonia got one such opportunity. She dialed her editor's number and told him that she had the perfect gossip on Shaurya Khanna which would make the headlines of the Page 3 section of his paper.

Next Morning:

Just like Mehak had invaded Shaurya's thoughts, Shaurya too had invaded her thoughts. After Shaurya confessed that he loved her, Mehak was on cloud nine. All her tricks had finally worked in getting her Khadoos to confess his feelings. After their last meeting, they couldn't talk to each other with Shaurya being busy with the Jindals and Mehak with her team of chefs. They would still somehow manage to find time to steal glances at each other. Mehak was getting ready to go downstairs to join her team for the breakfast arrangements when her cell rang.

Mehak: Ha Nehal, bol

Nehak: Di I am angry like angry wala angry. How could you do this to me? You didn't tell me about Shaurya, your own sister...I am so upset!

Mehak wondered how Nehal knew about her and Shaurya. Not even her best friend, Sonal knew about what she feels for Shaurya.

Mehak asked: What are you talking about?

Nehal: Didn't you read today's newspaper? Shaurya Khanna is in love and will be getting married soon.

How did this news reach the papers? Did Shaurya inform them? But if he did, why didn't he ask her first?

Mehak: Nehal, just listen to me...Woh actually...

Nehal mocking anger: I am so upset that Shaurya Khanna is getting married..I mean , come on I m his fan but yaar you work for him toh aapko toh saari inside info hogi na...Why didn't you tell me that he is dating the bride's cousin?

Mehak shockingly: What? Dating the bride's cousin? What are you saying? Which paper are you talking about?

Nehal: Wait di, you don't know anything about this? I will ping you a screenshot of the article?

With that, Nehal hung up and Mehak started pacing the room restlessly waiting for the ping.

Mehak thought: What was Nehal talking about? The bride's cousin? Which cousin was she talking about? I am sure it's a misunderstanding...Maybe they are talking about some other Shaurya Khanna..Hey Maata Rani, I hope its someone else and not my Shaurya.

Her chain of thoughts broke at the shrill sound of her phone. She immediately downloaded the pic that Nehal had pinged her.

She read it loud: Delhi's most eligible bachelor and famous hotelier, Shaurya Khanna all set to marry the love of his life. A little birdie tells us that the handsome Shaurya Khanna is in Udaipur attending the high profile wedding of the Jindals and Aroras. Our source added that they saw Shaurya indulging in PDA with his lady love at the event who also happens to be one of the bride's cousin. Also, both the families seem to have agreed for this alliance as Shaurya was heard seeking blessings from his mother for his marriage. If everything falls into place, we might get to hear about his wedding next. This piece of news is surely going to break the hearts of millions of girls who swoon over his good looks. She threw her phone on the bed frustratingly.

Mehak: How is this possible? Did Shaurya lie to me? No he cant. He just confessed two days back ...No this news is false. I don't believe this..I need to talk to Shaurya..

She dialed his number but it was busy. She tried calling him again but it was busy again. She couldn't sit here in the room quietly. She had to get her answers and find out the truth.

She ran downstairs looking for Shaurya. She asked her colleagues but no one knew where he was probably was in a meeting with Mr. Jindal.

Shaurya was on a call with Rajeev when he spotted Mehak looking for someone. She had her back towards him. He desperately wanted to talk to her. He glanced around to see if anyone was nearby. He smiled and approached her.

Mehak dialed his number again when she heard the faint sound of his ringtone. She immediately turned and saw him staring at her with a lopsided grin.

Shaurya smiling: Just the perfect timin...

Mehak shouted: How dare you? I mean how could you? I can't believe this Shaurya that you played with my feelings!! Don't you have any shame!

Shaurya looked at her perplexed.

Shaurya: What are you accusing me of?

Mehak heard few footsteps behind her. She did not want to create a scene here at the wedding. She pulled Shaurya by the arm and went to a corner.

Mehak angrily: Don't give me that innocent look as if you don't know what I am talking about!

Shaurya (with a confused expression): I really don't know what you are talking about Mehak. Can you be more specific so that I can understand.

Mehak showed her phone to Shaurya and said: Read this and tell me that you are really don't know anything about this and don't you dare lie Mr. Shaurya Khanna!

Shaurya took the phone from her and read the article. His expression turned from confusion to anger.

Shaurya angrily: What nonsense is this!

Mehak snatched the phone from his hand and said: Really! This isn't nonsense but the truth. I had read a lot about you in the papers that you are a womanizer and you have slept with many women but my opinions changed when I started working with you. I knew how wrong those tabloids had been all these years about you but I was a fool to believe you. I guess now you will add my name too in that list, won't you Shaurya?

All this while she was trying to control her tears but she couldn't do so anymore. Her eyes were brimming with tears which ached his heart.

Shaurya held her face pulling her towards him and said: Mehak, listen to me..I have no...

Mehak pushed him grabbing his collar and said angrily: Don't give any justification Shaurya..I have understood my folly. You aren't at fault here. I was so blind that I never understood that someone like you would never fall for someone like me. Don't they say that shaadi barabar waalo mein honi chahiye! Its all my mistake!! You never came to me but I forced you to confess. I was so wrong Shaurya...I should have understood!!I just hate myself..

Shaurya heard her out patiently. He was hurt with her accusations. The fact that she didn't trust his love pained him. He remained silent letting her vent her anger.

Shaurya's silence told her that he was guilty and all that was written in the paper was true.

She wiped her tears and said: I hate you Shaurya!

She was deeply hurt with Shaurya's betrayal. She ran to her room avoiding any eye contact with him. Shaurya was frustrated and angry with what Mehak accused him of. He dialed his secretary's number Riya and gave her certain instructions.
