Part 5 - Uh-Oh!

Gauri returned back home with a happy smile on her face. She was on cloud nine since Omkara asked her to be his girlfriend and they had celebrated their upgraded status. She can't wait to tell her mom!
"Gauri! Can you please come here?" Gauri's mother called her from the sitting room, where she sat next to her father.
Gauri quickly went into the room with a wide smile on her face.
This is the perfect moment to tell them. Should she tell in front of her father?
"Mom..." Gauri spoke but stopped when her mother started speaking at the same time.
"Gauri.. A proposal has come in for you. You know this guy very well. His parents like you very much and would like you to be their daughter-in-law.."
Whoa. I can't believe he already sent a proposal for me!
"And..." Her mother continued to speak.
"Say, "Yes" from me. I know how much you have been worried about my marriage. I think it's time I settled down.. I have just finished my Masters'. And I'll get a job soon." Gauri said, amiling happily at them.
I can't wait to get married at him!
"Thank you, my daughter. But wouldn't you like to know anything about the guy?" Her mother asked her, a bit confused.
"No, mom. If you both find the proposal suitable then it's fine with me." Gauri said to her parents, as she stood.
Her parents smiled at each other, feeling at peace that their daughter has finally accepted a proposal.

Gauri called Omkara as she laid down on her bed. She hummed happily as she thought, about Omkara's proposal for her. She still couldn't believe it.
"Wow, Om. I didn't know that you would give me this surprise so soon." She said the first thing when Omkara picked the call.
"Did you like it?" Omkara asked back.
"Like it? I loved it! I am so happy, Om! Thank you! You have no idea how much happy you have made me." Gauri said to him.
"Well, I am happy you liked the surprise. So, I am going to come and pick you up, before we go to college. We are going to let everyone know about our progress, alright?" Omkara said.
"Alright then." Gauri said, as she silently squealed.
Finally I can tell the world that Omkara is mine!
"I love you, Gauri." Omkara said, softly.
Gauri gasped. She bit her lips, trying control her throat as it got choked with tears. She cleared her throat softly before she replied, "I love you too, Om. Very much."
She finally dropped the call after they exchanged goodbyes, and rolled on her bed as she covered her face with her pillow. And then she screamed. Loud. She lifted the pillow from her face and looked up to her ceiling as she smiled widely.
Thank you, God. Thank you!
"Gauri!" She heard her mother call her name.
"Yes, mom!" She replied as she got up from her bed and went outside to the hall.
"There's a parcel for you! Check it out." Her mother said from downstairs.
A Parcel?
She quickly ran down the stairs to find a bouquet of roses on the dining table. She picked them up to her nose and took a deep breath to take in the beautiful scent. She smiled.
Omkara must have sent them for her.
She went back up to her room and sent a message - Thank you for the second surprise.

The next day (At the college)
They walked together into the college, hand-in-hand to everyone's surprise. Especially Ridhima, whose face turned red as she controlled the rage that she felt within her.
Once Again Gauri strikes. But this time I will show her who is the real winner.

After a few days
Gauri and Omkara were spending some very-much needed quality time together, when she got a call from her mother.
"Omkara, can you please hand me the phone?" Gauri asked as she sat up, covering her body with the sheet.
"Come and get it.." Omkara smiled teasingly at her as he crooked a finger, as he signalled her to pass him and get the phone.
"Omkara, please. It might be my mom. And we don't them to get suspected now, do we? Please, give me the phone!" Gauri said, giving him a puppy-eyed look.
Omkara rolled his eyes and handed her phone, resting his head against her stomach.
"Hey, mom." Gauri said as she answered the call.
"Gauri, you need to come home soon.. It's urgent." Her mother said.
"What's the emergenct, ma? Is everything alright?" Gauri asked worriedly and sat up straight.
"Don't worry. I am simply getting panicked. You know me, right? Actually some guests are coming home, and I need your help." Her mother replied soothing her worries.
Gauri let out a breath of relief as she said, "You almost gave me a stroke. Ok, mom. I am coming home soon. Ok, bye." Gauri finished the call and began to get out of the bed, but got pulled back by Omkara.
"Om! Leave me... I need to head back home. Mom needs my help." Gauri said, as she struggled to get out of his grasp.
"Ok, fine, then. Let's leave. You have time for everyone but for me." Omkara said angrily, as he got up from the bed himself to get ready.
"Om..." Gauri tried to speak but was cut off by Omkara.
"Let's go. I'm waiting for you in the car." Omkara said and got down from the tree-house leaving Gauri agape.
Damn. What should I do now?
She got ready slowly and followed him, her good mood long gone.

At her house (After a few hours)
Gauri dressed into a traditional normal suit and went downstairs to help her mother.
She was still disheartened about the fact that she and Omkara had their first fight - technically their second if they counted the fight they had few days back - and she couldn't even make it up to him.
What was up with him anyway? I give all the time I can get!
"Gauri! Where are you lost, honey? You seem to be lost somewhere. Are you alright? If you don't feel well, you can just sit down and take a break." Her mother said as she held her face lightly.
"No, mom. I'm fine. Everything's alright. You don't worry about me." Gauri said as she hugged her mother tightly. Her mother ran her hands through her hair.
"It's my duty to worry about you, my darling. Who will worry about you other than me... well beside your father?" Her mother said as she hugged back and kissed on her forehead.
"Ok, mom. Worry away. I love you." Gauri chuckled as she said.
"I love you too, honey." Her mother said.
"Well, it's a group hug time!" They heard Anika shout as she came running and grabbed them both in a bear hug.
They all laughed as stood apart.
"When did you arrive?! I didn't even hear you!" Gauri exclaimed as she grabbed Anika again in a hug.
"Oh, I came with Omkara. My parents are coming in a bit late." Anika said, as she pulled Gauri with her and walked out of the kitchen.
Gauri's heart leapt as she heard Omkara's name.
"I knew you would be happy hearing that!" Anika teased her.
"It's nothing like that." Gauri mumbled as she tried to control her flaming cheeks.
They stopped talking as they walked into the dining room and saw Gauri's father welcome another family into their house.
"Who are they?" Anika asked Gauri.
"I have no idea." Gauri said as she shrugged her shoulders. She was busy searching for Omkara.
"He is outside with his brothers." Anika said, smiling at her knowingly.
Gauri blushed and looked away.

A few hours later
After the new family left, it was only the Oberois and Anika's family in her house.
Omkara still ignored Gauri even though she tried to apologize by catching her both ears with her hands. She even tried the puppy-dog eyes! Guess she lost the charm.
"Gauri, how did you like Samar?" Omkara's mother asked.
"Sorry, who?" Gauri asked confusedly.
"The boy who's family we had invited." Her mother explained.
"Oh! Um... he was fine, I guess..." Gauri said, shrugging her shoulders.
The elders laughed, confusing her further.
"Oh, Gauri! You should have taken a look at him more closely... Since he is going to be your future husband!" Omkara's mother exclaimed and all the elders laughed again, leaving all the youngsters staring at them agape.
Gauri blinked slowly as she stared at the elders with a shocked expression. Then she slowly turned to look at Omkara, whom she found was currently staring at her furiously.
Uh-Oh.
