So, now that the news of the last episode of KRPKAB will be aired on Thursday is out, the moment we all never wished to face is only 3 episodes apart. With lots of anguish & heaviness in our heart, we have now to prepare ourselves to bid goodbye to one of the most realistic and beautiful shows of Indian TV industry. In all my these 20-22 years of serial watching, never have I come across such an awesome creation that excelled in all areas, whether it be the story or the direction or the camera or the lighting or the actors or the BGMs or its own tracks. The only area I had some complaint was in the editing. But, that also was negligible, I can say. And so, today I don't know how I am controlling myself from cursing Sony TV for having destroyed all the efforts of all the cast & crew who worked day & night to bring out such a beautiful creation!!!
This is not the first time Sony has axed shows abruptly due to TRP issues. The first time I was so disappointed was when the channel decided to end Humsafars (Harshad Chopda and Shivya Pathania's show) in 2015, that too somewhat in the similar manner to KRPKAB. A Bollywoodlife report dated Jan 22 2015 says,''Surprisingly, Humsafars has been getting great response from the online TV watching audience. Fans love the chemistry between Arzoo (Shivya Pathania) and Sahir (Harshad Chopda). Their equation lights the screen on fire, then why are the numbers still not going up. We thinks, in the current age, almost everyone watches the episode online, so maybe this has reduced the TV viewing audiences. However, we think it's simply to early to give up on the show.'' And the episode 83 which aired after this report on 27th Jan was the episode were all misunderstandings between the leads was cleared and the story was about to begin with only some confusions related to Sahir's past was to be cleared. In the next 10-12 episodes that is also cleared and when the leads were ready to live their life, Sony got it axed by its 106th episode; same in a rushed manner similar to KRPKAB. And I have read an article dated somewhere in 2007, that the TRP of all the prime time shows of Sony had plummeted compared to the other channels and I think that is the continuing trend till now. All the shows I have watched on Sony TV after that (starting from Kuch to log kahenge, Love marriage ya Arranged marriage, Amita ka Amit to the latest ones Ek Duje ke Vaste, Bade bhaiya ki dhulhaniya & Yeh moh moh ke daage) were treated in the same way - means, as soon as everything is fine between the leads, the show will have an abrupt ending. The only exception was BALH & Reporters. BALH because it was an Balaji Telefilms show and Reporters, because it stick on to its initial claim that it would be a finite show & didn't have a story change in between. Kaash, humara KRPKAB makers had sticked to its initial stance of a finite show and hadn't budge into the channel's requirement, aaj humein ye din nahin dekhna padtha hoga.
So, with all these past experiences with Sony TV, I used to expect something like this with our dear show. But since the makers were repeatedly assuring us that our show is not going anywhere soon, I also had started expecting a beautiful end. Especially because KRPKAB, which not only got connected to many viewers in their heart but also since got Sony TV international recognition, truly deserved it. I repeat. KRPKAB, its whole team and its fantastic fandom really deserved a much much better treatment, instead of such a pathetic farewell.
