the role of Saina Nehwal in her biopic is well
known. Amol Gupte in an interview to a
leading daily revealed what might possibly
be the title of the movie.
The filmmaker suggested that he might title
the film, Maar Dungi, the phrase Saina uses
before every match. "Before she goes for the
match, she says, 'Mujhe jaana hai aur
maarna hai,' or, 'Usko maar dungi,'" he said.
Revealing more about the plot, the
filmmaker said, "The film will trace her
journey to becoming the number one player
in the world. I spent a lot of time with
Nehwal before deciding to make the film. I
don't want to waste this opportunity by
making it look so unbelievable that it almost
seems fictional." He further added, "Since
my film also portrays the life of her family
before her birth, I had to meet her parents
[Harvir Singh and Usha Rani]. I also spent
time with her coach Pullela Gopichand, and
her friends."
Amole recently revealed that Shraddha
strikes an uncanny resemblance to Saina. He
stated, "Shraddha resembles Saina. In fact,
she was always my first choice. I have had
conversations with Saina too. It's not that
this idea popped up recently. I have been
sitting on this script for two years."
He also said, "Shraddha is undergoing
training from ace badminton player Jitesh
Padukone to get into the character. She is so
committed to it."
When the talented filmmaker-actor was
asked about the difficulties of showing the
life of a public figure, he said, "I don't know
how aware people were about Milkha Singh
or Phogat sisters. There are ways of
rewriting stories. I would not like to waste
the opportunity by creating something so
unbelievable that it seems like fiction."
Shraddha was last seen in Half Girlfriend
opposite Arjun Kapoor. The movie was
helmed by Mohit Suri.
