I've been thinking about this since this years star parivaar awards. Naamkarann is currently being promoted well with there constantly being new promos being aired, and I can tell that even from the uk, because here in the uk we also always get new promos for naamkarann. My issue is that I have noticed how naamkarann is continuously being snubbed in award shows.
The show is amongst the top 10 nowadays, and especially comes under SP's top 4 shows. This year's SPA, the show received very little nominations ad awards, and I kind of understand that during the time of the SPA17 the shows trp's were only satisfactory and not amongst the channels top shows like it is now, but the show was completely ignored at the gold awards where even shows like woh apna sa that gets nowhere near the same ratings as NK and is never in the top 10 recieved nominations, but also a win for ridhi dogra as nisha. Why is naamkarann being ignored in award shows even now when it's ratings are so good and it's position really good?
Also I have to point out the production value of the show. The show is clearly so low-budget, as I can tell straight away from even the actor's wardrobes alone. I know that naamkarann may not be a consistent show on the top 10 trp shows list like yeh rishta, but neither is ishbaaz either nowadays, but even then, NK is one of the top shows right now for the channel, yet the channel seems to be dedicating very little buget to the show, because if you compare NK's wardrobe and production value to the other two shows I mentioned, the wardrobes are boring, repetitive, and lacking variety and freshness.
Yeh rishta's lead, shivangi (naira) is by far the best dressed female lead of indian tv, let alone star plus alone, as from all shows, she is the one actor who always is given different types and style of clothing, including gorgeous sarees but also other kinds of interesting dresses and amazing accessories that actually look trendy and well put-together. Even the other actors of yeh rishta receive amazing and different wardobes too. Then ishqbaaz tries to play with different styles (albeit making a the actors look gaudy, awful and clownish), as well as give them variety and the shows production value is clearly high.
In comparison, you have aditi who is given the exact same style of saree with a slight change in colours, and pattern on the blouse, but it is still the same lightly embroidered off-shoulder blouse, with plain coloured saree drape, and cheap jewellery. You never see her wearing any variety. I can say the same thing for the other actors who are blandly dressed, although it seems they make the most effort with our villian, nalini/ riya.
When the show is now doing so well, shouldn't the channel know that the show deserves a rise in it's budget so that they can make improvements to the set, and most especially the looks of the actors. Aditi's wardrobe has zero variety and creativity added to it. And when I mean creativity in the styles, I don't mean Gul khan's IPKKND3 and ishbaaz- style creativity, which consists of unflattering, thrown together styles and patterns (anybody saw the recent god-awful denim themed indo-western outfits worn by all the IPKKND3 cast in a recent episode this week)? I'm talking about yeh rishta style classy, tasteful and beautiful styling with variety, which plays well with different cuts, styles, colours, designs, patterns and textures for the wardrobes including the accessories. The yes rishta wardobe looks super expensive.
What do you guys think? Do you think the show is being taken for granted/ under-appreciated by the channel despite it now bringing in good trp's for the channel and should receive a raise in its production budget?
