Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki on Colors is based on a major social issue which has been left unexplored by the television industry. While taking up the matter we are sure the makers also were aware of the kind of responsibility they carry to be sensitive throughout. The tracks followed through the serial as it advanced have managed to keep in between the lines of sensitivity and responsibility but it is very easy to slip in case of such topics. Maybe that is evident with the current separation-cum-Bangkok special track that found its way to the story.
The plot now revolves around when the main protagonist the transgender Saumya/Tarana, played by the very beautiful, Rubina Dilaik, asked the male lead, Harman, played by Vivian Dsena, to accept her before the society with her identity. He, who was seen pretty disturbed post an incident in which he witnessed the public killing of a transgender -which is one the over-the -top' part of the storyline!, we are not sure as to what made Harman refuse to fulfill this wish of Saumya when he has time and again displayed that he is incapable of a life without her.
This makes Saumya leave home and leave Harman to go and live with kinnar society and when Harman keeps pestering her throughout she demands to be sent far away. Her new family sends her off to Bangkok and that where the Bangkok part of the story begins and we just saw in yesterday's episode about how she reached Bangkok as a maid to a very rich Indian there who seems impressed by her beauty and also her efficiency in handling his child though he himself is scared about telling his wife the truth about Saumya.
Now the things that do not go well with us here are for once lets think that Harman does not want to put Saumya in an uncomfortable place in the society that being his reason to refuse to tells the truth but with Saumya out their living with the kinners what is he now holding back for. When we are left thinking about this the answers we get to this confusion is just on the repeat- Harman saying Gulabo ghar chal' whiles Saumya goes Kaun Gulabo/Saumya? Mein Tarana hun' and all we have that facepalm moment!!
Secondly they portrayed the public killing of a transgender who was accused of stealing a child, the part where we could not control our disgust came when the police officer was like so cool about it and seemed to think it was a mere nothing the person who died was a transgender. Th inspector is seen lecturing Harman at length over how even he should not get involved as then the society will think he has a relationship with the transgenders, a very convinced Harman walks off and decides to let the matter go!
Thirdly the Bangkok part of the story seems to be a very purposely addition for the TRP race as e do not see any progressive thought in sending a person like Saumya who has not been able to make a place for herself and her astitva in the small hometown of hers to a completely new place where the culture as we are aware moves at randomly opposite direction.
Now if it progresses as we might expect is to come in from this foreign country then maybe we are in for a shock again as the landlady of the house in which Saumya makes her entry seems very unhappy to know about her transgender status moreover we see Harman following her to the place and yet again there would be nothing of the Astitva' as promised and more of Gulabo vs Tarana'. We hope the makers find a way out of this seemingly stuck up theme and stick to the title of the show and find and essence to it soon.
