Ripple Effect: Secondary victims of abuse? 3 Sisters, 3 Approaches

It was very satisfying to watch the 100% Vashisht sisters' interaction today. Especially, the part that shows how the other two sister's dealt with / are dealing with a beloved elder sister's kidnapping, physical, mental, and emotional torture, (maybe, even attempted sexual assault) and subsequent trauma.

While at the center is Chandini, the person who was assaulted, it is heartening to see the show address how siblings and close family have their own difficulties in dealing with the situation.

Kudos to Chandini...for gathering the courage to re-enter the "everyday" world despite numerous fears / insecurities that still ail her...and kudos to her family, who understood and respected that she can set her own pace at moving forward. Indrani could have simply imposed that Chandini needs to be make an appearance at maha-aarti; instead, all we get is a mother patiently contemplating whether her daughter can make that big-leap.

Until now, I thought Shikha woman-handling the male population of Allahabad is just another "tom-boy" characterization trope. I found it annoying that she always resorted to physical violence especially when the two recent situations involving the YouTube-r were nearly-harmless pranks.

Today, I realize that it's her defense mechanism, her emotional (revenge) reaction; and that it stems from helplessness and inability to protect her sister as well as her determination to ensure that history does not repeat. The social stigma affixed to her sister combined with the rage she feels towards Chandini's offender has turned her repulsive to men's advances and this hypocritical society that misplaces blame and responsibility on the victim than rightfully to the offender.

Her rage is justified but only if it is directed towards that particular offender.

While Chandini has grown withdrawn, Shikha has turned cynical, and there's Meghna (?) who strives for balance. Together, they make a great support system. I would like to see more of them now.

Very well analysed.
But honestly Shikha's OTT ways could not convince me enough to sympathise with her.
She needs to tone it down and improve on acting front.

Also, would like to add that Chandni is not only the center of the sister carmaradarie but also every other element of the show. She is the beginning of it all. The love, the betrayal, the deceit, the revenge

Thank you!

Yes, Shikha seems to have lost her innocence and she definitely needs to re-learn to trust people (men, in particular)

Ah! Yes, the 6-year(?) old Chandni that the 14-year(?) old Dev clearly adored and thought was an impeccable soul.

Actually ur right...its defence mechanism which Shikha incorporated ...her vengeance to be prepared if tragedy strike again...we do the same...if our loved ones frds within family is mistreated. ..we start showing aggressive behaviour subconsciously. ..n later it becomes our personality

It is really heartening to see the strong bond between the sisters
They all understand and support each other so well
In today's time it is rare to see such a bond among siblings
They are giving such a beautiful message to us this way
All 3 have different coping mechanisms

There are another set of 3 sisters in the show and I dont know what to make of them...
They are openly being leeches and Indrani is openly acknowledging and appreciating that...
