Is this the worst year for BW in recent times so far?

not that only quality movies were being made 3,4 years ago but they were still at least being average e.g. like gunday, ragini mms..raaz 2, 3 etc etc various movies with mixed reviews/wom etc doing reasonably well

Yes since 2012 February and March would have atleast good women oriented films. This year there wasn't even that. I am yet to watch any BW film in cinemas this year. Just come to this forum to laugh at all the flop kings and queens.

Yes. Its pretty darn awful, but its a good thing. Sub-par films aren't working no matter who the seller is. Will hopefully encourage change.

Yes. Only Trapped and A Death in the Jung are worth watching so far. The biggest disappointment for me was Rangoon, a poor return from Bharadwaj after the stellar Haider.

What's worse is that there is nothing for the year. A couple of movies sound interesting but I am not sure they will get a decent release, one is Newton (Berlin premiere).

2016 was pretty terrible as well. Dangal, Aligarh and Raman Raghav 2.0 and that's about it. For an industry that has at-least one movie on average coming out each week, that result is pathetic.

Edit: Oh and should he finish it, Motwane's Bhavnesh Joshi as well despite the lead actor.

It is actually. Films need to be entertaining enough to compensate for the exorbitant ticket and food prices. Especially with so many English films and shows available on television and online, Bollywood is failing to attract people.

Tiger Zinda Hai and Judwaa 2 are some biggies coming

A handful of successful films till now
So many remakes and inspired stories
Along with remade / old hashed music

Commercially wise YES probably, but they did score some huge wins praise wise. I saw some hidden gems like Trapped, Anarkali Aarah, Bhouri, Hindi Medium etc.
