We had a seminar where I got to know how Sanskrit is related to science. We all know Indians were really progressive during that era.
The havan kunds were made with great precision following Pythagoras theorem. Though they rumoured it that to appease the Gods, they needed such measurements but in actuality, they followed science.
The Sanskrit scriptures have links with cryptography. So it might be possible that the one who made the temple locks encrypted the codes based on a Mantra/shlok. Normal people assume it is some spiritual thing while the truth is the decryption code lies in the mantra. Such codes are inherited from family hierarchy.

Did I make any sense?

I also have very less hopes that the makers will be this logical. 😛
