director and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah
has been trying to make a sequel to his
2007 hit movie, Namastey London, called
Namastey England. That movie starred
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead,
along with Rishi Kapoor, and was inspired
by Manoj Kumar's Purab Aur Paschchim.
There were rumours that the director might
be roping in Akshay Kumar for the lead role
again, though the heroine will be different
this time (well, that's the rule of nearly every
Bollywood sequel). But then, there was no
news about the movie for some time.
Akshay Kumar has been quite busy to what
with his National Awards wins and
nationalism serving movies.
Now the rumour we hear is that Vipul Shah
is planning to go ahead with the movie,
without Akshay Kumar as the lead. Instead
Arjun Kapoor would be replacing him in the
movie, if the buzz is to be believed.
According to a report in Midday, the reason
for this replacement is Akshay's busy
schedule. As you are aware, he is busy
promoting his upcoming movie Toilet: Ek
Prem Katha, which is scheduled to release in
August. There is also Reema Kagti's Gold and
home production Padman, as well as playing
the villain in Rajinikanth's 2.O. He will also be
seen as a judge on a laughter reality show.
Arjun Kapoor is having a good run at the
box office with his last two movies, Ki & Ka
and Half Girlfriend having a decent run at
the box office. It will be quite interesting to
see how he takes Akshay's role ahead, if the
news is true. However Vipul Shah has once
said this, "It's (Namastey England) a totally
fresh script and a new story. There's a
possibility of the title working out really well,
but it's not a sequel.
