krystal, atleast some one is looking beyond heroes n heroines in bw cinema!

Oscars are flawed.. accept it or not.. white jury exists thr who rarely like movies from other faction.

Satyajit Ray mostly worked in Bengali movies but he has directed one Hindi/Urdu movie and one Hindi TV film, in his lifetime

And he got lifetime award, not for one particular movie and the only Indian director to get it

But agree mentioning his name in a thread discussing why BW directors don't get an award allocated for HW directors, was a big mistake, a faux pas - a big one

When a poor movie like Pink gets so much acclaim despite all its flaws from acting, to directing and editing ; let's not even mention how straightforward the movie was. Then how can people expect such directors to be noticed when in the rest of the world, directors and writers are miles ahead regarding storytelling and characterization.

That's the thing! A movie is a product! On an international level, someone who doesn't know Indian cinema will say "Oh! That's the best they can come up with? Is that really the best thing that came out?"

The message can be there but if the package fails then the movie is plain bad. Glad I didn't have to pay to see it.

What message did it convey please? In the US, they did the same thing in TV MOVIES.
