Sultan wins the Best Action Movie Award at the SIFF

As Salman Khan's Tubelight hit the theatres, his fans have another reason t rejoice. Salman starrer Sultan which was shortlisted to compete to honours at the coveted Shanghai International Film Festival has now won the Best Action Movie Award at the film festival. The movie will aslo be releasing in China later this year.

This Salman Khan- Anushka Sharma starrer is the first Indian film to win this award in China.

An elated, Director Ali Abbas Zafar said, "We are very happy with all the love and respect we got at SIFF. Receiving an award under the action category from Jackie Chan is just super special. As a child he has been one of the most inspiring action stars for me and many Indians. Sultan is about desi, Indian wrestling and it's raw power. Amidst a selection of brilliant action films that present the most refined martial arts, the film's win is rewarding, and reflects that a good story based in action has universal appeal.

Earlier, Zafar in a statement had said, "As a film, 'Sultan' is a home-grown story of a fighter and an underdog rooted in our country's soil. The film's action reflects this and has won popular opinion over in India. That China, a nation with a proud legacy of cinema and a priceless heritage of classic action and martial arts, has found it suitable to feature in an action competition section is a huge gratification to us."

Currently, Ali is busy with his next directorial Tiger Zinda Hai starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The duo shot for the first schedule in Austria and later in Abu Dhabi and will soon be leaving to begin shooting for their next schedule. The movie is slated to release later this year.
