Adnan Sami smells fire!
22 Jan 2008

The musician-singer Adnan Sami, who is a hero for many, especially after his incredulous weight loss, proved to be a real hero on the sets of his reality show.

While shooting for it one day, Adnan ordered for a break, as he could smell something burning somewhere, and asked the production people to look around. A long cable wire had caught fire and fortunately things hadn't gone out of hand yet.

The fire was put off in the nick of time, and there was no damage caused. The producers, we're sure, are thanking Sami profusely.

Is Adnan in love with Amisha?
20th Oct 2005 18.30 IST
By Nikhil Kumar

Singer-musician Adnan Sami has admitted that he has begun to re-discover love with a top Bollywood actress. Speculations are rife that Adnan's mystery girl could be Amisha Patel .

Latest reports quote Adnan as confessing that he is looking forward to a "durable" and "everlasting" relationship with an actress who accompanied him on the last lap of his world concert last month.

From this hint thrown by Adnan, it appears that Amisha Patel might be the girl he is talking about since she accompanied him on his Agra concert at Taj Mahal last month.

Adnan says he felt like Shah Jahan at the concert and had his Mumtaz Mahal by his side. But he refuses to disclose her name.

"It's too early to talk about her. We're just beginning to discover each other," Adnan is quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has refuted the possibility of Amisha having a relationship with Adnan. Vikram said he and Amisha are already in love and would have made a formal announcement if Amisha wasn't busy in her career.

Adnan Sami, Pied Piper of our Generation

By Sadia Ashiq & nbsp;
Photos Raj Bakrania

Adnan Sami-the Pied Piper of our generation, performed 'live' on Sunday & Monday, the 25th & 26th of May, at The Wembley arena, to his biggest audience, so far. On Sunday, he entertained a crowd of approx 19,000 and the following day, I witnessed no less than 15, 000 people, at the stadium, dying to catch a glimpse of their 'big man'.

The Man Himself

Adnan brought back the glamour, the magic, and the cavalcade of self-reclaim, with a bang. And believe it or not, with that he also brought the roll of a hip and the twist of a waist, just as well. If only, he had performed like that in the streets, he would have been arrested, rather than grandly, that is, and most approvingly applauded.

Music , his first love

Adnan-a super-confident star, took the centre stage just after 7.45 p.m and instantly captivated his audience with his 'Mehbooba' number. On stage, he was all energy and never let the audience out of his sight even for a split second. His intense preparation showed, when he delivered the second number 'Kabhi to nazar milao', to the symphony of his first album. He encouraged and encouraged the audience to sing, applaud and as he put it "shake it with me".

It does not get any better I am coming UP

Although, I would have jumped at the idea of watching Adnan 'live', but also bear the unexplainable fear of overcrowded places. On top of that the 3 hrs long drive from Manchester to Wembley was not exactly my idea of a 'fun extravaganza', so it took a bit of persuasion on part of my friends and family to convince me to make the most unforgettable trip to London. My worst fears came to life when I lost my way around The Nottingham Park and twice missed the junction from Ealing to Wembley and nearly crashed into the oncoming traffic. But, it was well worth a trip and a crash, too.

The seven of us had managed to grab the third row seats, and had only just checked into the hotel, when the hotel manager announced that my car had been towed away. That was the final straw, because the concert was due to start in the next 2 hrs and there I was practically car-less and heartbroken, because I thought after all the effort, I might not be able to see Adnan performing, but thanks to a traffic warden, who directed us straightaway to the 'car retrieval' point and we all chipped in to pay &200.00 fine to get my car back. Finally, we arrived just few minutes before the performance was about to start .But the moment Adnan stepped on the stage, with his heart-warming smile; I completely forgot the tiring journey and the hefty fine.

Things don't get any sexier than this

With a mind-blowing and eye-popping performance, Adnan Sami was undoubtedly at his best. With each song number, he played the keyboard and orchestrated the band and miraculously managed to engage the audience, at the same time. His confidence shone, just like the startle in his eyes, especially when he dedicated his second number-'Meri yaad rakhna' to the 'ladies in the house'. Between tiny breaks, he also managed to teach us how to wink and blow a kiss and cracked a little joke about his weight, which had the audience in tears with laughter, when he said, " I am actually quite slim. It depends which angle you are looking at from".

Adnan's energy was insurmountable, when he sang 'Nain sey nain meela', with an exquisite mixture of classical music, and the popular pop. But with his 'Tera Chehra', the Pied Piper had all of us in his spell and made me wonder…. could anybody invent an antidote against this magician's contagious spell? I sincerely doubt it! If you allow me, I'll explain my conviction with a little incident, which occurred at the time of Adnan Sami's 3rd album-Tera Chehra.A very close friend of mine, grew so fond of the title song that each time he went out to a music shop, he would end up buying the same album. No prizes for guessing, as to what I got for my children's birthday and for every other occasion, too. No wonder my entire family thought that he might be loosing a few chips. Since, the release of that album, we have studiously avoided to ride in the same vehicle, as him, because you would not get to hear any other music but Adnan's.

This one Saturday morning, that crazy friend of mine graciously invited me to check out his new baby (car). I agreed, on a hunch that he might not have his favourite collection, since he had only just purchased his new baby, so there was nothing to worry about him playing the same old song. To my utter disbelief, not only that he duplicated the entire collection but also drove manically and only agreed to slow down on one condition…yes you guessed it right. Listen to Tera Chehra, only this time ,with my eyes shut, so that we could feel the rhythm and the texture of the song. I obeyed but secretly thought that he needed an immediate medical attention (for his debilitating state of mind) that is.

I returned home with a promise that enough is enough. I would rather listen to LimpBiskit than Adnan's soothing voice, but when the magician delivered that song on the stage, in a passionate, immediate almost sob, I had no choice but to listen to him with my eyes wide shut and my heart open. And that is when I felt completely hypnotised, almost spellbound. At the last verse, the magician stopped the band, and played the piano to the tune of the song. Watching his fingers, literally playing up on the piano keys was amazing. He almost brought the poor stagnant piece of instrument to life. I wondered if only instruments could talk…they would talk to Adnan and beg him, for the touch of his magic touch, for the rest of their dormant lives.

A little confession to the great artist is in place here. All that time, watching him perform, I kept wondering! Would he be able to hold his voice/stamina, considering his weight, to which he had already referred to. But with his gigantic performance, he had me convinced that size doesn't matter? Appearances don't count, as long as you have Adnan' passion, Adnan's energy, Adnan's intensity and his kind of versatility…needless to say, that explains why we only have one Sami.
