Part 2 and Final Part
Whenever he returned to the club, he always beelined directly to the bar, because he lowkey hoped he would see the somber, but beautiful stranger he had seen that fateful night. But other than her face, he had nothing to notice her by and he couldn't exactly go up to every girl's face in the club and check if it was her. He would get beaten up.
He took the same spot on the bar and ordered a scotch on the rocks. Downing the drink, he closed his eyes to see her again. It was the only way to catch a glimpse of her through the image in his mind. He never had thought of brown eyes as special. Basically 90% of the population of his country had brown eyes, but there was something about hers that was so different. Her intense brown eyes, the amber mixed with the gold specks melting together in her chocolate orbs, full of life, yet full of pain. They were so deep that they just pulled you in, and he wanted to be able to get lost in them, but he wasn't able to. She hadn't given him the chance to. He didn't even catch her name.
He sculled down two more drinks before going to the dance floor. Normally he wouldn't, but today he just needed to distract himself, let him lose himself into the blaring music to get rid of the thoughts of his mystery girl. He danced amidst strangers, not caring what anyone thinks of his dance. Not that he was bad, he knew he was a good dancer, but he was uninhibited and inebriated. As the songs flowed into one another until Neel didn't know how long he had been dancing here for, Neel noticed the movements of a girl. She was dancing unabashedly too, in her drunken stupor, her back towards him. She was amazing. It was as if the music was matching up to her moves and not the other way around. She wasn't the skinniest girl around or the tallest or the leggiest. But for some reason this girl seemed perfect and something about her called him in. Without realizing it, he had moved behind her. He matched her steps. Although their bodies weren't touching, he knew she could feel his body too.
He waited for any indication if the girl wanted to move away, if she felt awkward, but she eased herself onto his body. Neel didn't think too much of it. They both matched each other's dance beat. He held onto her waist. The skin under her black tee warm under his fingers. Neel shook his head. Dance first. Think later. It's the natural order.
Both their bodies fell in sync and they moved to yet another song. He could feel every inch of her body on his. This wasn't his first time at a club, or dancing with a girl. But this was the first time his body was reacting to the girl in front of him. His breathing was heavy, but that might have just been the dancing. His body was hard but that wasn't too big of deal. It was when his heart skipped a beat when her fingers laced into his that gave something away. He couldn't believe it. He was dancing with a girl to forget another girl he barely got the chance to look and talk to properly and this was just history repeating itself. He was in awe of the 5ft 5 girl dancing in front of him, and he hadn't even seen her face yet.
As the song neared a close, he spun the girl around and he couldn't believe his eyes. It was her, the girl with the brown pained eyes. She was the girl he had danced the night away with. She looked back in surpise, her recognition of him apparent in her tell-all eyes. He brought her hand up to both their faces, and teased her at the fact the finger she had shown him at their last meeting was empty. Her apparent wedding ring was nowhere to be found. She laughed back, taking her hand out of his and walking back to the bar. For some reason, Neel's hand's felt empty, yet they were burning.
He followed pursuit. He finally muttered the question he had been wishing he had asked at their first meeting. "So can I know your name?
"Kya karle ko janke? She teased.
"Tumhare poster banay loo ga. Kum se kum, mujhe ye toh pata hoga maine kis ladki ke saath puri raat guzaari hain.
"Puri raat? I'm not going back to your place Mister!
"There you go again with jumping conclusions. I meant all night in the club with.
"Main ajnabee ko apne naam nahi batati.
"Yeh sahi hain. Lekin dance toh strangers nal kar sakti hon.
"Main toh bas...Avni, I'm Avni.
Avni. He finally knew the name to the most beautiful yet most frustrating girl he ever met.
