Wow this is so intense

ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!

Everyone just froze & turned simultaneously to behold ASR in towering rage. There was a stunned silence.

Sheetal gulped wordlessly. ASR was a very contained person. He rarely allowed any overt show of emotions & this has always troubled her. Even when he was extremely angry he never let others get an inkling of it. He planned his actions coldly without any emotion. There was no room for melodrama or impulsive knee jerk reaction in his life. So she was taken aback to see him in towering rage that too for a nonentity Raw fury emanated from him & she literally cowered behind her cohorts.

ASR...

Enough Sheetal. Are you people being paid to mob lynch new comers or is this a regular recreational activity here in AR.

ASR I was just showing my engagement ring to all. Not sure what you are talking about.

She batted her eyelids coyly. ASR narrowed his eyes.

I always keep my personal & professional life apart & I suggest you do the same.

Sheetal visibly blanched at his no nonsense tone which brooked no dissent. Before she could interrupt him, he gestured towards the girl at the center & raised his eyebrows questioningly. Sheetal followed his line of vision & he noticed her expression change to petulance & undisguised animosity.

She jerked her head peevishly & spoke in a clipped tone.

That is a new entrant to our Design Team.

Send her to my room.

Before Sheetal could comprehend fully his command he had whipped around & left. To say that Sheetal was stunned would be an understatement. She took deep breaths to steady herself & marched towards the girl who stood immobile with her bowed down head. She had still not spoken a word & her silence irked Sheetal to no extent.

Dint you hear ASR or are you deaf along with being dumb.

Before Sheetal could spit more venom Kushi silently made her way out trying to follow the long strides of ASR who was turning around the corner.

ASR was still mad when he stormed into his cabin. He hated people taking their work lightly. He had worked his ass off to climb up the ladder of success & he could not condone his employees shirking work or putting in insincere effort. He closed his eyes, clenched his fists & waited for his temper to subside. He was still struggling when he heard the soft knock & merely grunted in reply.

He felt more than heard the door open gently & someone shuffling their feet nervously. He slowly opened his eyes to behold the waif like girl before him. Her eyes were downcast while she continued to stare at her feet, her hands twisting her dupatta the only clue of her nervousness.

I never knew my office floor was this fascinating that people can't stop staring at it.

She almost jumped at his voice, darting a diffident look at him before continuing her staring contest with the floor.

He merely leaned against his desk & continued observing her. Though she was not looking at him he realized that she was aware of his attention. She seemed to be strangely attuned to his presence & that piqued his curiosity. Finally he cleared his throat loudly which startled her yet again forcing her to look at him finally. He sighed wearily.

As much as I appreciate your pleasant company I really don't have the whole day you know.

This got her attention. She cast her eyes around frantically searching for an escape before resigning herself to her fate. Her shoulders slumped & she slowly lifted her head, her hair forming a glossy curtain cascading all around her face framing those porcelain features. Her tongue darted out wetting her dry lips & she swallowed visibly.

Finally he had her unswerving attention. Her mouth hung open & she was looking stunned. She hadn't expected him to know her leave alone her name. He smiled impishly & he suddenly looked refreshingly young for a CEO of a company. Now that she finally looked at him, she found herself unable to tear her eyes away from his roguishly boyish handsome visage. She clutched her bag violently while her heart thudded fiercely. She was amazed that he could not hear the frenzied beat in the sterile, silent room.

Meanwhile he continued to smile in an amused manner.

Yeah I know you Ms Gupta. My family was Sheetal's neighbors many years back before we shifted to Delhi. You used to visit Sheetal's family & run around our gang joining in our crazy games. Of course, you might not remember me. It was all centuries ago...

Kushi almost snorted loudly. Forget him when his face & especially his chocolate eyes & husky voice used to haunt her dreams. Forget him indeed. She had the mad urge to laugh hysterically & wondered what his reaction would be to such crazy behavior. Quickly tamping down her wayward thoughts as well as her heart she swallowed yet again & looked back at him.

I rem remember you.

God why was she stammering. This was her boss & he was not going to be impressed by her stuttering theatrics. She quickly averted her eyes & Arnav's eyebrows quirked yet again in an amused manner. He realized that for some reason he made her nervous. It bemused him but he did not want to prolong her discomfort anymore especially considering her not so warm welcome on her first day. His mood darkened at the memory of Sheetal & her minions harassing this wallflower girl. Because yeah that is how he had always perceived her. A girl who had tried to always blend into the background not wanting to garner attention. Strange for a girl of that age & it had intrigued him endlessly at that time. There was something about this girl even then. He couldn't actually lay a finger on it but he had always got the feeling that there were many layers to this girl, unsaid feelings, concealed pain & anguish. Trying to reign his weird speculations he smiled at her.

He offered his hand which she took reluctantly. Do meet our HR Lavanya who sits right down this corridor. He turned back to his desk. Realizing that she had been dismissed Kushi slipped out of the room.

His words reverberated in her ears & she smiled for the first time the whole day.

Ok friends. Posting the next update with lot of trepidation. I know I ve again been erratic in my update. But asli duniya has been really crazy so had to take a break from writing.
